Virginia Tech vs Boston College Picks and Prediction for Saturday September 26 2026

By: Kim Smith Published 09/20/2026, 11:20 PM ET

The Virginia Tech Hokies visit the Boston College Eagles at Alumni Stadium in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, on Saturday, September 26, 2026. Kickoff is scheduled for 12:00 PM ET. This ACC matchup comes during Boston College’s Family Weekend, and the Eagles enter after a 22-16 victory over Maine. Virginia Tech has controlled the recent series, winning each of the last three meetings by at least 17 points. At the time of this writing the odds were not released. Virginia Tech Has Controlled the Recent Series

Virginia Tech has enjoyed a considerable advantage over Boston College in the recent head-to-head meetings. The Hokies won 42-21 in 2024, 48-22 in 2023 and 27-10 in 2022. Boston College’s last victory in the series came by a 17-3 score in 2021.

That recent history doesn’t guarantee another Virginia Tech victory, but it does demonstrate that the Hokies have repeatedly found ways to create separation against this opponent. Virginia Tech also showed offensive upside earlier this month with a 44-21 victory over Old Dominion, giving the Hokies a blueprint for winning when they control the line and generate explosive plays.

The road setting changes the equation somewhat. Alumni Stadium should have an improved atmosphere for Family Weekend, and Virginia Tech cannot assume the previous three meetings will simply repeat themselves. The Hokies need to prevent Boston College from settling into a physical, lower-possession game.

Boston College Gets the Hokies at Home

Boston College comes into this matchup following a 22-16 home victory over Maine. It wasn’t an overwhelming performance, but the Eagles found enough offense and defense to secure the win and now remain at Alumni Stadium for their conference matchup with Virginia Tech.

The biggest concern is the recent history against the Hokies. Boston College has allowed 27, 48 and 42 points in the last three meetings, while scoring no more than 22 in any of them. Reversing that pattern requires the Eagles to prevent Virginia Tech from consistently generating favorable field position.

Home field gives Boston College a better opportunity than the recent series results might initially suggeState If the Eagles can keep the first half close and turn this into a fourth-quarter possession game, the pressure shifts toward Virginia Tech. The Eagles cannot afford another slow offensive afternoon if the Hokies reach the upper 20s.

Virginia Tech vs Boston College Picks and Prediction

Pick: Virginia Tech Moneyline

Virginia Tech’s three consecutive decisive victories in the series are enough to give the Hokies the side, but Boston College’s home field keeps me from becoming aggressive with an unconfirmed spread. The Eagles managed only 22 points against Maine, while Virginia Tech has demonstrated a considerably higher offensive ceiling. The Hokies are my preferred outright winner.

Pick: Under 51.5 or Higher

Boston College’s best chance is slowing the game and preventing Virginia Tech from creating the type of separation we’ve seen in the last three meetings. The Eagles’ 22-16 result against Maine also points toward a game where possessions could become valuable. At 51.5 or higher, something around 27-20 or 28-17 puts the under in a favorable position.

Final Picks: Virginia Tech Moneyline and Under 51.5 or Higher
