Virginia vs. Duke, Picks, Preview, Odds and Prediction, Saturday, November 15, 2025
We have quite the ACC battle on Saturday in this Virginia vs. Duke prediction. No. 19 Virginia (8-2, 5-1 ACC) is having a great season despite coming off a shocking 16-9 home loss against Wake Forest last Saturday. That was their first ACC loss and now they are tied with three other teams for first place at 5-1. Duke (5-4, 4-1 ACC) is right there, a 1/2 game behind those teams and a win here would give them a shot at the ACC title. Adversity in Charlottesville
There was a reason UVa scored just nine points last week. QB Chandler Morris entered concussion protocol last week during the Wake Forest game, and his status is uncertain for the Duke game. Daniel Kaelin came in and was adequate, completing 18 of 28 for 145 yards but with no TDs and a pick. He also rushed for 49 yards on six attempts.
Kaelin is a freshman who is completing 57.7% of his passes for 339 yards with a TD and a pick. Morris is completing 66.7% of his passes for 2,088 yards with 12 TDs and five INTs. He also has 214 yards rushing and four TDs. J'Mari Taylor, an NC Central transfer, leads the ground game with 784 yards and 11 TDs.
UVa has a balanced attack, throwing for 243.5 yards per game and tallying 427.8 total yards (35th). On defense, they are strong against the run (114.6ypg), but are mediocre against the pass (215ypg).

Key Injury Report for Virginia:
- QB Chandler Morris (head) is questionable.
Basketball season is here and so is the Football team
Around this time, Duke fans are paying more attention to their blue blood basketball team, but this season, the football team has captured people's attention in Durham. That doesn't mean football has taken over, but Manny Diaz has made this program a contender in a league that dropped below the other three big leagues (B10, B12, SEC). Duke has run the full gamut this season, losing to UConn 37-34 last week and beating Clemson 46-45 on the road. That loss didn't hurt their ACC hopes, but maybe they will think twice about scheduling a non-conference game in the middle of conference season.
Clemson was their last ACC game on Nov. 1, and they came off losing to a strong Georgia Tech team 28-17, which was their only ACC defeat. One thing the Blue Devils can do is put some points on the board thanks to QB Darian Mensah, who has 2,794 yards passing with 24 TDs and four INTs. Nate Sheppard leads Duke with 657 yards rushing (6.6ypc) and seven TDs.
Duke's defense is their biggest issue, especially against the pass, as they rank 128th with 268.6 yards per game allowed.
Key Injuries for Duke:
- OG N. Kutufaris (undisclosed) is questionable
- OG E. Scott (undisclosed) is questionable.
- OG J. Brown (undisclosed) is questionable.
- OG M. Sahakian (undisclosed) is questionable.
Spread Pick for Virginia vs. Duke
Virginia vs. Duke Prediction and Pick
- Virginia +4.5
Even if Morris doesn't play, Duke's defense is leaky enough that a freshman backup quarterback like Kaelin can have a career game against them. The weather also helps that it will be a warm one in the 70s in North Carolina. Virginia will also be more prepared for Kaelin if Morris is out. Duke has lost two of their last three games, so even though they are 4-1 in the ACC, it isn't playing that well. In terms of head-to-head matchups, Virginia has covered and won eight of the last 10.
Over/Under for Virginia/Duke
- Over 58.5 (4 units)
This is a risky pick, but there's a reason Duke is 7-2 Over this season. They gave up 37 points to UConn last week. A week of preparation should have the Cavs ready to produce more in the air and on the ground. Wake Forest also has one of the better defenses in the ACC, ranking 26th against the pass, while Duke gives up about 100 yards more per game in the air.
