Wake Forest gets bowling shoes ready
After dropping their first two conference tilts, the Demon Deacons have rattled off three straight and are now just a win shy of qualifying their first bowl berth in three seasons. They are now 2-2 SU in conference play with three of their last five games on the road.
Wake’s offense is averaging 26.7 points per game, 11th in the ACC. In the yardage department, they’ve picked up 394.3 total yards each week, also 11th in the conference. The passing game is producing 244.9 yards per game. Quarterback Robby Ashford missed much of the last two weeks with a thumb injury, though he did play briefly against SMU. He will be back under center this weekend, looking to add to his 1,205 passing yards, with 3 TDs and 4 INTs. They have the third-best rushing game in the ACC, averaging 149.4 yards per game, led by Demond Claiborne, who is fourth in the conference with 612 yards, with 8 TDs.

Florida State continues free fall
The Seminoles were on top of the world after opening the season with three straight wins, including a season opener over then No. 8 Alabama. Now, they try to halt a four-game losing streak that has completely turned their season on its head.
Despite the results, the Seminoles’ offense tops the ACC with 523.3 total yards per game, the second-best average in the FBS. Their 39.7 points per game is the second-best mark in the ACC. They have a heavy emphasis on the run, averaging an ACC-best 254.3 yards per game behind Gavin Sawchuck’s team-best 422 yards and 6 TDs on 87 carries. Tommy Castellanos has dashed for 319 yards while also passing for 1,607, with 9 passing TDs, 5 rushing TDs and 5 INTs. He’s also been sacked 7 times. Duce Robinson leads the team with 29 catches for 541 yards and 3 TDs.
Florida State hasn’t been all that bad on the defensive end either, allowing 22.6 points, ninth in the ACC, and 327.3 total yards, fifth best in the conference. On average, they are giving up 208.7 yards via the pass and 118.6 yards by way of the rush. They are third in the ACC with 9 interceptions to go with 19 sacks. Earl Little Jr. leads the team with 45 tackles and 3 interceptions. Ashyland Barker has a team-high 2.5 sacks as part of his 24 tackles.

- They are second in the ACC and tied for 21st in the country with 181 first downs.
- With a 52.6% success rate on third downs, the ‘Noles rank ninth in the nation.
Wake Forest vs. Florida State Picks
Spread Pick for Wake Forest vs. FSU
- Wake Forest +9.5 (5 units)
These two teams last met in 2023, a game the Seminoles won by 25 points as -21 favorites. Given where these two teams are right now, the Deacons should take this spread as disrespect and use it to their advantage. Wake has done an excellent job at using their balance to the best of their abilities, in contrast to what Florida State does with their balance. Ashford is not afraid to move his feet, and Florida State has had some issues with dual-threat quarterbacks. The Seminoles have had some issues getting out of their own way when they desperately need a win, as is the case here. The Deacons' two losses this season have come by an average of 5.5 points per game, so they have been in every single game this season. Wake Forest is 3-1 SU and 2-1-1 ATS in the last four games between these two teams.
Take the Demon Deacons getting the points.
Over/Under Pick for Wake Forest vs. FSU
- Over 50.5 (5 units)
When they last met, these two teams scored a combined 57 points to hit the over against a 53-point spread. Florida State handled the bulk of the scoring in that matchup but that won’t need to be the case this time. The Wake Forest offense is a resilient group, and while they only scored 13 points in their last game, it was against one of the top four defenses in the conference. They should be able to get more against the Florida State defense. Wake has scored at least 29 points in four of their last six games. The Seminoles have scored at least 31 points in five of seven games this season and had the luxury of resting their battered bodies with a bye week, so they should be ready to roll this week. The over is 9-5 between the two teams this season.
Take the over.
