Can Washington State bounce back from a tough stretch?
The Washington State Cougars started 2025 on a high note, but since then, they've dropped back-to-back games, and with the team outscored by 49 points in their only road game of the season, their season has a chance to fall apart with a loss here. Offensively, the Cougars rank near the top of the nation in completion percentage, but beyond that, their defense is their strength, as they rank top 100 in the NCAA in many categories, including yards, rushing yards, passing yards and opponents' QB rating.
Their own quarterback situation has been up-and-down in 2025, as their duo has tossed six touchdowns compared to five interceptions, and with a rushing attack that has just 233 yards across four games, it's easy to see why they've struggled for consistency. Last time out for the Cougars was a massive loss to the rival Washington Huskies in the Apple Cup, with the team losing the turnover battle 3-0, and with their opponents putting up over 150 more yards than them on the day, they were dominated 59-24 at home.
The concern is at quarterback, where senior Zevi Eckhaus started in place of redshirt sophomore Jaxon Potter, who threw three picks in a 59-10 loss to North Texas in the Cougars' previous game. Eckhaus completed 25 of 36 for two touchdowns, but also had two picks.
Can Colorado State get back to .500?
The Colorado State Rams entered 2025 with very low expectations, and with a 1-1 record at home this season, they've been off to the start expected of them, but with a massive home win here, they could have the chance to build some major momentum. Offensively, the Rams are yet to go over 22 points this season, but they've also allowed over that number just once, and if they can find a strength to lean on, this will be a team to keep a very close eye on.
What success the Rams do have is built through their run game, as the team has put together 468 rushing yards and six scores on the ground, but with just two passing Touchdowns in three weeks, they've got a very clear weakness as well. Last time out for Colorado State was a tight defeat at the hands of UTSA, with the Rams managing just 16 points on the night despite having over 400 yards of total offense as well as winning the turnover battle, with a 13-point fourth quarter not enough to get the job done as they fell 17-16.
