Wisconsin vs. Alabama Prediction

Saturday’s college football slate kicks off with a marquee cross-conference showdown between the Wisconsin Badgers (2-0) and the #19 Alabama Crimson Tide (1-1). We’ve got you covered with our Wisconsin vs. Alabama prediction. Kickoff is set for 12:00 ET from Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa, AL. Looking to win big this football season? We have the best College Football Picks to help you out!

Badgers 2-0 Out of the Gate

Coach Luke Fickell is back for his third season as the lead man of the Wisconsin Badgers, and he’s still looking to find his footing after a 13-13 (8-10 B1G) start through two seasons. His Badgers are 2-0 out of the gate, cruising past Miami OH (17-0) and Middle Tennessee (42-10), more recently. Wisconsin is 1-1 ATS in 2025.

Billy Edwards Jr. was supposed to be the man under center this year, but he’s unlikely to play due to a knee sprain sustained in week 1 against Miami. This means we’ll probably see QB Danny O’Neil, and he has thrown for 403 yards on a 76.1% completion rate, adding four touchdowns and two interceptions. Wisconsin’s top target out wide is Vinny Anthony II, who has 107 yards and one touchdown. RB Dilin Jones will spearhead the rushing attack, and he has 109 yards and a touchdown on 24 carries (4.5 YPC).

  • Wisconsin’s updated win total is 5.5 (+135/-160), and they’re priced at +20000 to win the conference title.
  • Offensively, the Badgers are scoring 29.5 points per game (45th), while averaging 404.5 yards per week (52nd).
  • On the defensive side, the Badgers have been elite this season, allowing 5.0 points per game (fifth). In terms of yardage, they’re third, conceding 179.0 yards per contest.

#19 Crimson Tide Bounce Back, Down Warhawks

It has been a tumultuous start to the 2025 campaign for Coach Kalen DeBoer and the Alabama Crimson Tide, who got hammered by unranked FSU (31-17) in their opener, failing to even win outright as 14.0-point road favorites. The Tide bounced back with an easy win over UL Monroe (73-0) in week 2. Still, Coach DeBoer’s seat remains hot in his second season, as he looks to build on a 9-4 (5-3 SEC) mark from a year ago, where Alabama missed the CFP.

As always, it’s a loaded offensive unit for Alabama. QB Ty Simpson leads the way under center, and he has 480 yards and a 5/0 TD/INT ratio through the air. He’s completing 66.7% of his passes. Simpson’s top targets out wide are Germie Bernard (213 yards, 2 TD) and Lotzeir Brooks (58 yards). RB Kevin Riley (100 yards) has handled the rushing workload, but notable RB Jam Miller (collarbone) will return on September 27th for the Georgia game.

  • The Crimson Tide’s current win total sits at 8.5 (+130/-155), and they have the fourth-shortest odds (+650) to win the SEC title.
  • Alabama’s offense has been excellent this season, ranking eighth in scoring (45.0 PPG), while putting up 462.0 yards per game (25th).
  • Defensively, the Tide are 35th in the country this year, conceding 15.5 points per game. They’re allowing 265.0 yards per contest, which is 26th.

Wisconsin vs. Alabama Pick

Spread Pick for Wisconsin vs. Alabama

  • Alabama Crimson Tide -20.5 (-115) (5 units)

Even if Wisconsin had starting quarterback Billy Edwards Jr. available for this game, I’d still consider laying a sizable number with Alabama. Now that the Badgers will turn to sophomore transfer Danny O’Neil in a hostile road environment, I’m rushing to the window to bet the Tide inside of the full three touchdowns.

Wisconsin typically holds up well in the trenches. That has been true for as long as I can remember. However, the Badgers will have their hands full this weekend against the Crimson Tide’s offensive and defensive lines that ranked first and second in the PFF preseason rankings. I expect Alabama to steamroll this mediocre Wisconsin program and cover the number at home. With Kalen DeBoer’s seat getting hot, he may need to feed the fans a blowout victory to keep them calm heading into SEC play. I’m taking Alabama -20.5.

Over/Under Pick for Wisconsin vs. Alabama

  • Under 46.5 (-110) (5 units)

These teams met in Madison last year and Alabama destroyed Wisconsin 42-10. That total closed at 47.0 points, so we’re sitting in about the same range here are 46.5 points. I’m taking the under.

For whatever reason, the Badgers cannot solve their offensive issues. A decade ago they’d lean on their gigantic offensive lines and bulldoze opponents into submission. Well, I don’t think they’ve fixed their problems, as they managed to score only 17 points against Miami (OH) in week 1. Now they’ll turn to a sophomore quarterback on the road against an angry Alabama team. I think we’re looking at a possible shutout from the Tide here, and I expect this one to land in the 31-3 or 38-7 range. I’m taking the under in this battle between two unpolished offenses.
