Key Matchups for Wisconsin vs. Indiana
Fickell is back?
Wisconsin is 3-6 in head coach Luke Fickell's third season. Instead of moving on like so many other programs this year, Wiscy decided that Fickell will return, according to multiple reports. That announcement came before the Badgers' 13-10 win over Washington on Saturday as an 11-point dog, which stopped a six-game losing streak. This game was all about defense as the Badgers held the Huskies to 251 total yards and forced two turnovers. The difference was the turnover margin (+2), because the offense was horrific, recording 205 yards and 48 passing yards.
The quarterback position has been an issue all year, mainly due to injuries. Freshman QB Carter Smith took over for injured QB Danny O'Neill, who was making his first start since Sept.13, when he suffered a lower-body injury. Smith struggled with eight passing yards, though he did rush for 47 yards and a touchdown. Maryland transfer Billy Edwards was injured against Maryland and has rarely played this season. Hunter Simmons is completing just 50.5% of his passes with five INTs and two picks. Dillin Jones leads the running game with 300 yards and two TDs (3.9ypc).
Going for the title
Curt Cignetti is going to National and Big 10 Coach of the Year, barring two straight losses. Has has taken Indiana from a basketball school and afterthought as a football program to a national title contender. IU also probably needed a close win after blowing out Maryland, UCLA and Michigan State by an average of 40 points. Last Saturday, they faced Penn State on the road and as a 13.5-point favorite, survived a 27-24 win thanks to a spectacular catch by Omar Cooper Jr. from Fernando Mendoza with 36 seconds left. The explosive Indiana offense was held to just 108 rushing yards and 218 passing yards. Defensively, they weren't bad, but were outgained 336 to 226.
Mendoza is having a great season with 2,342 passing yards, 26 TDs and five INTs (71.3%), while rushing for five TDs. RBs Roman Hemby (656 yds, 5 TDs) and Kaelon Black (651 yds, 5 TDs) are an excellent duo in the backfield. Cooper leads all receivers with 52 catches for 701 yards with nine touchdowns. DL Tyrique Tucker leads the team with 5.5 sacks and 30 tackles.

Wisconsin vs. Indiana ATS and Over/Under Betting Picks
Indiana was scared last week against Penn State. If you don't bring your A game against a Big 10 team or anybody, you can get beaten. On a nice day in Bloomington, it's hard to imagine Wisconsin even coming close with their quarterback situation.
Wisconsin vs. Indiana Spread
- Indiana -29.5 (4 units)
Total for Wisconsin vs. Indiana
- Over 43.5 (4 units)
Wisconsin vs. Indiana Final Score Prediction
- Indiana 52-10
The Hoosiers' defense struggled some last, but they may shut out the Badgers this week. They allow just 257.1 yards per game and Indiana averages just 2545.6 yards per game and they have one of the worst passing offenses in the nation (140.6ypg). Even if Edwards finally plays QB for Wisconsin, it's hard to imagine that they'll do much better against a defense that ranks 17th in the nation against the pass. The Penn State close win will scare the Hoosiers and it will be a long day for the Badgers in Bloomington.
