Rockies Drop 4 Of 5
Colorado was unable to match the bats of the Padres as they fell in a 10-8 final. The Rockies only struck out seven times as they went on to tally 14 hits. Four players finished with multiple hits at the plate as Jordan Beck led the way in his three-hit, one-home-run performance. McCade Brown got the start, and over 1.2 innings, he struck out one and allowed six runs.
RHP Chase Dollander is scheduled to take the mound for the Colorado Rockies. This season, Dollander has made 20 starts, posting a 2–12 record with a 6.75 ERA over 93.2 innings pitched. He’s struck out 77 batters while issuing 46 walks, resulting in a 1.56 WHIP. He's been much stronger on the road, but August saw him toss some of the weakest he's thrown all season. He'll look to right the ship here.
On the road, Dollander holds the following splits:
- ERA: 3.47
- Opponent Batting Average (OBA): .211
- BB/K Ratio: 0.52
Colorado enters this contest averaging 2.89 runs per game, which lands them at 30th in the league. The Rockies are much weaker on the road as their batting average falls to .219 and fewer than half of their home runs and extra base hits came on the road. They have hit an average in afternoon games, where home runs sailed at an above-average clip. Home runs were few and far between for the offense last season and poor plate discipline has seen the Rockies drop to the bottom five in both walks received and strikeouts per game. They will need to keep their plate composure here.

Dodgers Blow Lead Late
Los Angeles dropped their 5th straight, most recently in a 3-4 final at Baltimore. The Dodgers finished with 10 hits, but were unable to capitalize. Three players finished with multiple hits at the plate as Mookie Betts accounted for two hits and two RBIs. Yoshinobu Yamamoto was an inning away from a shutout before the Orioles busted out a four-run 9th. He finished with 10 strikeouts and one earned run over 8.2 innings.
As of this writing, Los Angeles hasn't announced who will take the mound on Monday, but looking at the bullpen as a whole, the Dodgers’ relievers have posted a combined 3.31 ERA, ranking them fourth in the league. Their strikeout rate sits at an impressive 10.1 per nine innings, highlighting their ability to miss bats in crucial moments. Walks have been limited as well, with a bullpen WHIP of 1.14, which ranks among the league’s best.
At home in 2025:
- ERA: 2.88
- Opponent Batting Average (OBA): .212
- BB/K Ratio: 0.29
Los Angeles enters this contest averaging 5.56 runs per game, which lands them at 3rd in the league. The Dodgers struggled with consistency early on this season, but they now sit 3rd in overall batting average. What's more, they've been hitting much stronger in front of their home crowd. They sit 2nd in the league in home runs per game, but they've fallen into the bottom half of the league in strikeouts per game. They've still been able to drive runs home at a high rate, and this has made up for much of their plate inconsistencies.
Colorado Rockies vs. Los Angeles Dodgers Pick
Spread Pick for Colorado Rockies vs. Los Angeles Dodgers
- Los Angeles -1.5 (4 Units)
While the Dodgers haven't taken the division, they still have an outside chance of being the top seed in the NL. Even still, the Rockies have been very inconsistent at the plate this season, and Dollander has the propensity to give up the long ball. Los Angeles should be able to take advantage of his errant throws when they come. When the Dodgers are on the mound, they've continued to limit hits and should find success against this Rockies team that did not hit well to close out the month of August.
Los Angeles -1.5
Over/Under Pick for Colorado Rockies vs. Los Angeles Dodgers
- Over 8.5 (4 Units)
We've seen the Dodgers routinely hit the ball better when in front of their home crowd, and they're one of the best clubs in the league when it comes to home runs and hits for extra bases. The Rockies have hit strongest in nighttime games, and last month featured them hitting doubles at a rate above their season average. Expect this total to carry over the number here.
