Rockies Offense Sputters
Colorado managed six hits, but the offense was only able to turn one run. The Rockies struck out nine times at the plate as Warming Bernabel was the lone Rockies player with multiple hits at the plate. Tanner Gordon got the start, and over 3.2 innings, he struck out five and allowed six runs, including three home runs.
RHP Germán Márquez is set to take the mound for the Colorado Rockies. This season, he has made 22 starts with a 3–12 record and a 6.19 ERA over 107.2 innings. He’s recorded 75 strikeouts and maintained a 1.71 WHIP. Ball control has been a problem for the righty, and he's walked three or more in four of his last starts. Add to that, he's allowed a home run in each start since the end of July.

Los Angeles bounced back on Sunday, topping the Orioles in a 5-2 final. The Dodgers finished with 10 hits and scored four of their runs over the first four innings. Los Angeles struck out six times as three players finished with multiple hits at the plate. Shohei Ohtani added two home runs and two RBIs. Clayton Kershaw got the start, and over 5.2 innings, he struck out eight and allowed two runs.
RHP Emmet Sheehan is expected to take the hump for the Dodgers. This season, he’s made 11 starts, compiling a 5–3 record with a 3.58 ERA across 52.1 innings pitched. He’s struck out 60 batters against just 18 walks, resulting in a solid 1.22 WHIP. Sheehan has been much stronger at home this season; however, he's allowed six home runs over his last five starts.

Los Angeles enters this contest averaging 5.56 runs per game, which lands them at 3rd in the league. The Dodgers struggled with consistency early on this season, but they now sit 3rd in overall batting average. What's more, they've been hitting much stronger in front of their home crowd. They sit 2nd in the league in home runs per game, but they've fallen into the bottom half of the league in strikeouts per game. They've still been able to drive runs home at a high rate, and this has made up for much of their plate inconsistencies.
