L.A. Angels vs. Seattle Mariners prediction

In an AL West matchup in the Great Northwest, the red-hot Seattle Mariners (81-68) host the L.A. Angels (69-80). The Mariners have won eight in a row and go for the Sweep in game 4 of this division series. Right here in this L. A. Angels vs. Seattle Mariners prediction you can check out the full score info, pitching matchup, and other free MLB picks.

The Mariners come into the series finale as a major favorite posted at -215 with the Angels at +195 and a total of 7.5 runs.

A Lot of Whiffs for the Angels

In Game 3 of this series the Angels lost to the Mariners 5-3 where they struck out 16 times. Taylor Ward and Jo Adell each had a solo HR and Bryce Teodosio had an RBI. The Halos have dropped seven of their last 10 games and they are out of the playoff race tied with the Athletics in the basement of the AL West and tied with two other teams for the third fewest wins in the AL.

  • On the season L.A. ranks 19th in the Majors in runs scored and only 28th in team ERA.
  • Adell (.243 36 HR 95 RBI) leads the team in HR, ranks second in RBI, and has gone yard three times in the last five games.
  • Ward (.224 31 HR 98 RBI) leads the club in RBI and has three over the last five games.
  • On the season the Angels are 32-42 on the road.

Kyle Hendricks (7-9 4.58 ERA 1.27 WHIP) takes the hill for Game 4 and is coming off his best start of the season where he tossed seven scoreless innings and gave up four hits in a 12-2 win over the Minnesota Twins. The Angels have won two of his last three starts and in that span, he has only given up three runs in 20 innings. The Halos have won both of his starts facing the Mariners where he gave up a total of five runs in 12 innings.

Mariners Catching Fire at the Right Time

The Mariners are riding an MLB best eight-game win streak and it has come at the right time. They are now tied atop the AL West with the Houston Astros, who they face on the road in the series after the next one. In the 5-3 win in Game 3 of this series J.P. Crawford had a solo HR and Josh Naylor and Jorge Polanco each had two RBI. Seattle and Houston are also tied for the second Wild Card spot.

On the season the Mariners have been balanced ranking 11th in runs scored and 13th in team ERA.

Cal Raleigh (.242 53 HR 113 RBI) leads the Majors in HR, ranks third in RBI, but does not have a HR or RBI in the last six games.

Polanco (.263 24 HR 72 RBI) has five RBI in the last four games.

On the season Seattle is 47-27 at home.

George Kirby (8-7 4.56 ERA 1.27 WHIP) gets the nod for the series finale and in his last start gave up three runs on eight hits in four innings in a 5-3 win over the St. Louis Cardinals. The Mariners had lost his previous four starts and in his last two starts he has only totaled six innings. Seattle has won both of his starts facing the Angels this season where he gave up two runs in each.

Angels vs. Mariners Pick

Angels vs. Mariners

  • Angels +195

The Mariners are streaking winning eight in a row and this season they have won eight of 12 games facing the Angels. The Halos are well under .500 and out of the playoffs and have only totaled four runs in the last two games. Hendricks has been up and down on the season but has pitched well as of late. He did not give up any runs in his last start and has only given up a total of three in his last three outings. On the other side of the coin Kirby has given up 11 runs in his last two starts where he only totaled six innings. Regarding the L.A. Angels vs. Seattle Mariners prediction, I am taking a flyer on the Angles, as Hendricks has been pitching well and the Halos will take the series finale and snap the Mariners’ win streak.

Over/Under Pick for Angels vs. Mariners

  • Under 7.5 runs

The total has gone Over in two of the three games in this series and that is the pick I am leaning towards in this game. Hendricks has been pitching well as of late, and in two starts against the Mariners, he gave up two runs in each. Kirby has not been pitching well in his last few starts and in his last two he has only lasted a total of six innings giving up 11 runs. However, in two starts against the Angels this season he gave up four runs in 12 innings. This game will be similar to Game 3, as not a very high scoring one, but with a low total of 7.5 runs, the Over is still the pick.
