Baltimore Orioles vs. Chicago White Sox – Wednesday, September 17, 2025
The Baltimore Orioles and Chicago White Sox will meet for the third game of their 2025 Chicago series this Wednesday, and we'll preview the lines and odds in our Orioles vs. White Sox prediction. The Orioles have dominated the series this season–they've won each of the past two days' games in Chicago after sweeping the White Sox in their Baltimore series months ago. Their last meeting of the season will start at 2:10 PM ET on Wednesday, September 17.

Will Orioles Finish the Sweep?
We're in the stretch of the season where the playoff picture is virtually decided, but a cluster of teams remain theoretically in the hunt. The 71-80 Baltimore Orioles – 11 games behind the Red Sox for the last wildcard berth, with 11 games left on their schedule – are the longest of these longshots in the American League. Can they finish their season-long sweep of the White Sox to remain in the hunt, if only for a few more hours?
The Orioles' offense ranks 23rd in runs (639) and batting average (.239), and 20th in OPS (.705). Their pitching ranks 25th in ERA (4.61), 28th in opposing batting average (.260), and 27th in WHIP (1.37). That the Orioles are still in the hunt with numbers like that is a testament to their inconsistency – this team is 10-4 since the calendar turned to September, but they've been through several dark valleys since the season started.
Tyler Wells will start for the O's on Wednesday. He's posted an exceptional 2.31 ERA and 0.60 WHIP through two games this season, pitching just over 11 innings between the team's recent 6-2 win over the Padres and 2-1 win over the Pirates.

Will White Sox Show Up?
If it weren't for the Colorado Rockies and the notoriously rough campaign they've suffered through in 2025, the 57-95 Chicago White Sox would have the worst record in Major League Baseball. They're 0-5 in their last five games overall and 0-5 in the five games they've played against the Orioles this season. They put up more runs in Tuesday's 7-8 loss to the Orioles than they did in the first four games combined; can they avoid being swept again, or was Tuesday's push the Sox' best shot?
Chicago's offense ranks 26th in the league in runs (601), 27th in batting average (.234), and 28th in OPS (.676). On the pitching side, they're 20th in ERA (4.21), 19th in opposing batting average (.246), and 25th in WHIP (1.36).
Martin Perez will pitch for the Sox on Wednesday. The 34-year-old left-handed pitcher has a 3.27 ERA and a 1.05 WHIP this season, but only a 1-5 record. He was credited with the loss in each of his two starts this September: a 0-6 loss to the Detroit Tigers and a 0-4 loss to the Cleveland Guardians.
Orioles vs White Sox Pick
Spread Pick for Orioles vs White Sox
- Baltimore Orioles -1.5 (+135) (4 Units)
The Orioles have been much hotter than the White Sox in recent games, not just in their meetings with each other. As for their meetings with each other, Baltimore is 5-0 this season, and they're heading into Game 6 with Wells starting after he pitched extremely well against the Padres and Pirates. Chicago – whether it can be blamed on Martin Perez or not – didn't show up on offense in either of their last two games with Wednesday's starting pitcher. I'd take the Orioles here.
Over/Under Pick for Orioles vs White Sox
- Under 8.0 (-105) (4 Units)
The Team Total Under is 4-1 through five meetings between the Orioles and White Sox this season, and 5-1 in the White Sox's last six games. Inexplicably, the Sox haven't scored a run in either of Perez' last two starts with them. The Orioles, for their part, are coming off two games with Wells that ended in a 6-2 win and a 2-1 win–the latter happening despite the teams playing extra innings. I'd lean toward the under here.
