Baltimore Orioles vs. San Diego Padres Picks and Prediction, Monday, September 1, 2025
Major League Baseball is full of intriguing young talent, and on Monday, we’ll see two teams loaded with bright stars with our Baltimore Orioles vs. San Diego Padres prediction.
The Baltimore Orioles (61-76) have been arguably the biggest disappointment in baseball this season, but if they can get healthy and have a big-time off-season, the future is still very bright in the loaded AL East.
On Monday, they do battle with the San Diego Padres (76-61), a team that’s found itself in a tight race with the Dodgers in the West, and with their best players healthy and thriving, this team has become a genuine World Series threat in 2025. Read on to see our Baltimore Orioles vs. San Diego Padres prediction.
Expected pitching matchup: RHP Kyle Bradish vs. RHP Dylan Cease.
Can the Orioles end 2025 on a high note?
The Baltimore Orioles were expected to continue taking steps forward with their impressive young core, but on the back of a disappointing 30-39 record away from home, they’ve once again fallen to last place in the American League East. The biggest issue for the Orioles has been a pitching staff that has compiled a 4.69 team ERA on the season, and with the offense accounting for the 17th most runs in baseball, they haven’t had one big enough strength to rely on to carry them forward.
Taking the mound for Baltimore in this one will be talented righty Kyle Bradish, who tossed just 6.0 innings of two-run ball in his only outing thus far in 2025 following a fantastic 2.75 ERA in eight starts a season ago. Last time out for the Orioles was a tough loss to the San Francisco Giants, with the team managing just two runs on 10 hits on the night as Tomoyuki Sugano was lit up for seven runs in 3.1 innings, as the team would eventually fall 13-2.

Can the Padres keep pace with the Dodgers in the West?
With just over a month to go until the playoffs begin, the San Diego Padres are just two games back of the Los Angeles Dodgers this season, riding an imposing 43-22 record at home as they are one of the top home teams in the league. With a 3.61 team ERA on the season, the Padres have found immense balance, and while the offense has lagged, if they are able to find their form at the right time of year, this is a team that can certainly win it all.
In this one, San Diego will turn to star righty Dylan Cease, who is in the midst of the worst season of his career, posting a 4.82 ERA through 27 innings of work despite striking out an incredible 183 hitters in just 142.0 innings. Last time out for the Padres was a tough loss to the Minnesota Twins, with Bryce Johnson and Freddy Fermin accounting for their only two runs on the night as the team allowed seven runs on just seven hits as they fell 7-2 in a tough performance.
San Diego -160 (5 units)
These two teams have played 10 times since the 2019 campaign, and in that time, it’s the Padres who have dominated, posting a 7-3 record, including a 4-1 record since August of the 2023 season.
In their three-game set a year ago, it was the Padres that outscored the Orioles 21-16 in the 2-1 series win, and with one of the best home records in baseball this season, San Diego should start this series with a bang at home.
Over 7.5 (4 units)
While both pitchers in this one have the talent, one has thrown just one outing this year, and the other has an ERA over 4.50, and with the over being 7-2-1 in their last 10 head-to-head encounters, this one should be a high-scoring contest.
For the Orioles, the over sits at 5-5 in their last 10 overall games, with a whopping 6.5 runs allowed per game in that time, and for the Padres, the over comes in at 7-3 in their past 10, with a total of 51 runs scored during that stretch.
Keep it simple, take the over.
