Milwaukee Brewers vs Texas Rangers Picks and Prediction for Tuesday, September 9, 2025

The Baltimore Orioles begin a three-game American League series against the Texas Rangers at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, on Friday, August 7. The first pitch is scheduled for 8:15 p.m. ET, with national television coverage available through Apple TV. Baltimore enters the matchup at 56-58 overall and 24-29 on the road, while Texas is 57-58 overall and 30-26 at home. At the time of this writing the odds were not released. Starting Pitchers

Shane Baz is projected to start for Baltimore against Texas right-hander Nathan Eovaldi. Baz is 4-10 with a 3.86 ERA and a 1.37 WHIP through 128.1 innings. He has allowed 131 hits and nine home runs while recording 111 strikeouts against 45 walks. Eovaldi is 10-9 with a 4.31 ERA and a 1.21 WHIP across 127.1 innings. He has surrendered 124 hits and 24 home runs while collecting 135 strikeouts against only 30 walks. Baz owns the lower ERA, but Eovaldi holds significant advantages in WHIP, strikeouts and walks.

Orioles Attempt to Carry Their Home Momentum to Texas

Baltimore has gone 3-2 over its last five completed games. The Orioles recently earned consecutive victories over the Angels by scores of 3-1 and 5-2. Those wins followed a difficult conclusion to their series against Philadelphia, where Baltimore was shut out 5-0 and 8-0 after opening the series with a 6-4 victory. The Orioles scored 14 runs and allowed 20 across those five games.

The Orioles are batting .235 with 515 runs, 887 hits and 132 home runs this season. Baltimore owns a .319 on-base percentage and a .392 slugging percentage. Its pitching staff has recorded a 4.21 ERA, a 1.34 WHIP and a .253 opponent batting average. Baltimore pitchers have accumulated 905 strikeouts while issuing 381 walks.

Power remains an important part of Baltimore’s offensive profile. The Orioles hit three home runs in Wednesday’s victory and have one more homer than Texas despite recording 54 fewer hits. However, Baltimore’s .235 batting average makes the lineup vulnerable to extended quiet stretches. The Orioles were held scoreless in consecutive games immediately before the Angels series.

Baz gives Baltimore a reasonable opportunity to remain competitive. His 3.86 ERA is better than Eovaldi’s mark, and he has allowed only nine home runs across 128.1 innings. The concern is his 1.37 WHIP and 45 walks, especially against a Texas lineup that enters with consecutive victories and will be playing at home.

Rangers Return to Form at Globe Life Field

Texas has gone 2-3 over its last five completed games. The Rangers recently defeated San Francisco 5-4 and 6-0 after losing the series opener 5-1. Those victories ended a six-game losing streak that included road defeats of 5-4 and 7-3 against Houston. Texas scored 19 runs while allowing 21 across its last five games.

The Rangers are batting .245 with 477 runs, 941 hits and 131 home runs. Texas has produced a .318 on-base percentage and a .402 slugging percentage. Its pitching staff owns a 4.29 ERA, a 1.29 WHIP and a .247 opponent batting average. Rangers pitchers have recorded 965 strikeouts while issuing 336 walks.

Texas has struggled to convert its stronger contact numbers into runs. The Rangers hold advantages over Baltimore in batting average, hits and slugging percentage but have scored 38 fewer runs. Their recent offensive improvement is encouraging, however, with 11 runs produced across their final two games against San Francisco.

Eovaldi’s ability to limit walks could become decisive. He has issued only 30 free passes through 127.1 innings while striking out 135. Although his 24 home runs allowed represent a serious concern against Baltimore’s power, his 1.21 WHIP shows that many of those homers have occurred without multiple runners aboard.

The Rangers also hold the situational advantage. Texas is 30-26 at Globe Life Field, while Baltimore is five games below .500 on the road. The Rangers won two of the first three meetings between these clubs in March, scoring at least five runs in both victories.

Baltimore Orioles vs Texas Rangers Picks and Prediction

  • Pick: Texas Rangers Moneyline

I am taking Texas on the moneyline. The Rangers possess the better home record, hold the season-series advantage and have won consecutive games after ending their six-game slide. Eovaldi’s ability to avoid walks gives Texas the more dependable control profile in the starting matchup.

Baz owns the lower ERA and has been considerably better at preventing home runs, so this is not a comfortable run-line opportunity. However, his 1.37 WHIP could create scoring chances for a Texas lineup that has collected 54 more hits than Baltimore this season. The Rangers should also enter with the fresher bullpen after having Thursday off.

Baltimore’s recent victories over the Angels improved its form, but the Orioles scored no runs in the two games immediately before that series. Their .235 batting average remains a concern against a pitcher who has recorded 135 strikeouts and issued only 30 walks. I prefer Texas at home in what projects as a close game.

  • Pick: Under 8.5

I am taking the under if the total is set at 8.5 runs. Baltimore has allowed three runs or fewer in each of its last two completed games, while Texas recently recorded its 10th shutout of the season. Both starting pitchers have demonstrated the ability to work deep into games without consistently allowing large rallies.

Baz has surrendered only nine home runs in 128.1 innings, which should help him contain a Texas lineup that has scored fewer runs than its batting statistics would suggest. Eovaldi carries more home-run risk, but his 1.21 WHIP and strong strikeout-to-walk ratio should limit Baltimore’s opportunities to build multi-run innings.

The clubs combined for seven or fewer runs in three of their six most recent completed games. Neither offense ranks highly in consistent run production, and Globe Life Field removes weather as a variable. I would play under 8.5, accept under nine at a higher price and pass if the number falls to 7.5.

Projected Final Score: Texas Rangers 4, Baltimore Orioles 3
