Braves Look To Continue Win Streak
The Braves are coming off another win on Wednesday versus the Nationals with a final score of 9-4. This is the fifth win in a row for the Braves as they continue their seven-game road trip with a record of 4-0. Atlanta is already out of the playoff race but has been finding success recently as their season comes to an end.
Atlanta’s largest issue this season was their pitching as they rank 22nd this season in ERA at 4.40 and 21st in walks. While many teams could overcome this with their offense, the Braves have not been able to do that with their 17th overall batting average at .245. However, in recent games, we have seen a surge from both the offense and the defense and it has been paying off. The Braves have 7.8 runs per game in their last five games and have a batting average of .330. The pitching has looked great in their recent games as well, having an ERA of 2.54 in their last five games and allowing only two walks per game. If the Braves can repeat this success next season, they may stand a better chance at making a wild-card spot.
Right-handed pitcher Bryce Elder will be taking the mound for the Braves on Friday.
Bryce Elder:
- has a 7-10 record with an ERA of 5.56 and 118 strikeouts in 26 appearances this season.
- had a record of 2-5 with an ERA of 6.52 and 46 strikeouts in 10 appearances in 2024.

Detroit Hunting For Top Spot
The Tigers picked up another loss on Thursday versus the Guardians with a final score of 3-1. This is the third loss in a row for Detroit and their sixth loss in their last seven games. Detroit still has a chance to overtake the Blue Jays for the top spot in the American League but their recent losing streaks have led them to fall from their top seed.
Detroit has been known for their offense this season but more specifically, its ability to generate home runs. The Tigers are ninth overall in runs this season thanks to their slugging percentage of .418 (11th). Their slugging has placed them tenth overall in home runs and RBIs. However, in their recent series, we have seen a sharp decline in their hitting. The Tigers have 2.43 runs per game in their last seven games and have a slugging percentage of only .305. Detroit will need to focus on its hitting again if it still aim to overtake the Blue Jays for the top of the American League.
Right-handed pitcher Charlie Morton will be taking the mound for the Tigers on Friday.
Charlie Morton:
- is 9-10 with an ERA of 5.56 and 146 strikeouts in 31 appearances this season.
- has a 4-2 record with an ERA of 3.51 and 33 strikeouts in 8 appearances versus the Braves in his career.
Braves vs. Tigers Prediction and Picks
Money Line Pick for Braves vs. Tigers
- Braves Money Line (+102 ) (4 units)
The Tigers are 2-8 in their last ten games versus the Braves. The Tigers are also 1-6 as favorites in their last seven games at home. The Braves have a record of 6-2 in their last eight games on the road. We have two teams performing in opposite directions with the Braves thriving at the plate and mound and the Tigers struggling. The Tigers may have more incentive to win this game as they are fighting for positioning for the postseason, but it may be out of reach with the Blue Jays requiring only a couple of wins to clinch the top of the American League. I believe the Braves are going to finish their season strong and grab a much-needed series win, starting with a win on Friday.
Over/Under Pick for Braves vs. Tigers
- Under 8.5 (+100 ) (4 units)
The Braves have an over/under record of 3-6-1 in their last ten games on the road. The Tigers had an over/under record of 0-3 in their last three games versus the Braves. While the Braves have been dominating at the plate recently, it has been their pitching that has also looked reliable. Detroit remains as one of the better pitching cores this season and I do not believe this game will be close due to each team matching run for run but rather a close defensive pitching matchup.
