Can the White Sox get to 60 wins this season?
The Chicago White Sox have been one of the worst teams in baseball for several years now, and with a dreadful 25-53 record away from home this season, they're well on their way to yet another historically bad campaign. Given their record, it's no surprise that the White Sox rank 28th in total runs this season, and with a team ERA of 4.25, not enough to keep them competitive, as they've got a long road ahead before turning things around.
Taking the mound for Chicago in this one will be 25-year-old Yoendrys Gomez, who has put together a solid 4.46 ERA across 11 appearances this season, with the talented young righty striking out a solid 42 hitters in 42.1 innings of work this season. Last time out for the White Sox was a tough loss to the New York Yankees, with two RBI to Michael Taylor not enough to get the job done as Davis Martin gave up three runs over 4.1 innings of work, with the team ultimately falling 5-3.
Can Washington end a disappointing year on a high?
The Washington Nationals are a team full of young, up-and-coming talent, but without the depth of stars needed to compete, they're set to finish the 2025 campaign in last place in the National League East standings. Despite a solid start, the Nationals' pitching struggled down the stretch as they now rank 29th in baseball in team ERA with a 5.32 mark, and while the offense is better, ranking 20th in the league in total runs scored, the immediate future doesn't look too bright.
In this one, Washington turns to second-year righty Cade Cavalli, who has produced a 4.23 ERA across nine starts in his second season, as he has struggled to stop giving up hits, allowing 50 across 44.2 innings this year. Last time out for the Nationals was a tight win over the Atlanta Braves, with two home runs to James Wood leading the way as Andrew Alvarez tossed 4.1 innings of shutout ball, as they came away winners 4-3.
