Giants Look Toward Off-Season
The Giants are coming off a loss on Thursday versus the Dodgers with a final score of 2-1. This is the fifth loss in the last six games for the Giants. San Francisco, while close to a wild-card spot, has too many obstacles to jump over to obtain a postseason position. The Giants are four spots away from the bottom wild card spot in the National League held by the Mets with a winning percentage of .516 to the Giants’ .497. On top of this, between the Giants and Mets are the Diamondbacks and Reds, both in the hunt for the wild card with a winning percentage of .503. A lot would have to go right for the Giants to make the playoffs and I do not see that happening.
San Francisco has been one of the better pitching teams this season, ranking eighth overall in ERA at 3.83 and leads the league in home runs. However, the offense for the Giants has not been able to consistently put up runs to help their pitching. At the plate, the Giants rank 17th overall in runs and 26th in batting average at .235. The Giants have used their ability to get on base by taking walks and stealing to secure runs, but it has not been enough to battle against teams with consistent hitting.
The Giants have not confirmed a starting pitcher at the time of writing this article.

Dodgers Look To Clinch Top of the NL West
The Dodgers grabbed an important win on Thursday versus the Giants with a final score of 2-1. This is the fourth win in the last six games for the Dodgers as they continue their seven-game home stand. Los Angeles currently holds the top seat in the NL West but has not clinched as of yet, with the Padres attempting to overtake them. The Dodgers hold the top with a winning percentage of .562 to the Padres’ .542.
Los Angeles has found success this season thanks to their consistency at the plate. At the plate, we have seen the Dodgers sit third overall in runs and sixth in batting average at .254. Their offense has reliably produced runs thanks to their slugging, which rests second in the league at .43,9 and as a result has them also second in home runs. The Dodgers have struggled at the mound, ranking 18th overall in ERA at 4.03 but thanks to their offense, they have been able to match most teams run for run and grab wins thanks to a more reliable offense than their opposition.
Right-handed pitcher Tyler Glasnow will be taking the mound for the Dodgers on Saturday.
Tyler Glasnow:
- has a 3-3 record with an ERA of 3.06 and 96 strikeouts in 16 appearances this season.
- has a 4-1 record with an ERA of 3.12 and 32 strikeouts in 7 appearances against the Giants in his career.
Giants vs. Dodgers Prediction and Picks
Run Line Pick for Giants vs. Dodgers
- Giants +1.5 (-113 ) (4 units)
The Dodgers have a record of 3-7 against the run line in their last ten games versus the Giants at home. The Giants have a record of 8-2 against the run line in their last ten games on the road. The Dodgers have the top of the National League in their grasp and are only a couple of wins away from clinching it over the Padres. However, while I do have faith in them grabbing a win against the Giants, I do not believe their batting will be able to get past the reliable mound of the Giants. We should expect another close game similar to game one of our series.
Over/Under Pick for Giants vs. Dodgers
- Under 9 (-122) (4 units)
The Giants have an over/under record of 1-4-1 in their last six games on the road. The Dodgers have an over/under record of 3-7-3 in their last 13 games at home. Much like in Game One of this series, we should expect a low-scoring game from these two teams. The Dodgers rely on their batting but will be facing off against one of the more reliable pitching teams in the Giants. San Francisco is also known as one of the best pitching teams in the league when it comes to home runs, as they allow the least amount of home runs compared to any other team. With the Dodgers unable to benefit from consistent home runs, we should see their offensive output diminish and see a low-scoring game.
