Kansas City Royals vs. Cleveland Guardians Prediction and Picks - September 10, 2025

The Royals are facing off against the Guardians in game three of their series at Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio; keep reading for our Royals versus Guardians prediction. Kansas City is third in the AL Central with a record of 73-72. Cleveland is second in the AL Central with a record of 74-70. The Guardians are 7-4 against the Royals this season. The first pitch is scheduled for 6:40 p.m. EDT. Need some winners this baseball season? Check out our Free MLB Picks.

Royals’ Chances Looking Slim

The Royals are coming off another loss on Tuesday versus the Guardians with a final score of 2-0. This would be the third loss in a row for the Royals as they struggle to find wins on their recent road trip. Kansas City is losing their chance at the postseason as it continues to lose key games, which can bring them closer to the bottom wild card position.

Kansas City has a winning percentage this season of .503 and sits three spots away from a wild card position currently held by the Mariners with a winning percentage of .531. The Royals need to overtake the Guardians in the standings if they want to grab a wild card by the end of the season and given they are struggling to even beat them in their series, I doubt we will see the Royals in the postseason.

Right-handed pitcher Jonathan Bowlan will be starting for the Royals on Wednesday.

Jonathan Bowlan:

  • has a 1-2 record with an ERA of 3.57 and 35 strikeouts in 26 appearances this season.
  • has an ERA of 5.40 and 5 strikeouts in two appearances against the Guardians in his career.

Guardians Thriving At The Mound

The Guardians picked up a crucial win on Tuesday versus the Royals with a final score of 2-0. This is the fifth win in a row for the Guardians as they start to climb the ranks of the wild-card standings. The Guardians now possess a winning percentage of .514 and sit only two spots away from a wild card position.

Cleveland is making a strong push at the end of their season for a wild card spot. The Guardians this season have not been known for their pitching but has been what has grabbed them most of their wins this season. The Guardians are 12th overall in ERA at 3.90 and 12th in home runs. The one downside to their pitching has been that they allow too many walks ranking 23rd in walks allowed. Recently, we have seen this pitching core surge as they have an ERA of 1.45 in their last seven games.

Left-handed pitcher Logan Allen will be starting for the Guardians on Wednesday.

Logan Allen:

  • has a 7-11 record with an ERA of 4.46 and 109 strikeouts in 27 appearances this season.
  • has a 0-4 record with an ERA of 6.26 and 15 strikeouts in five appearances versus the Royals in his career.

Kansas City Royals vs. Cleveland Guardians Prediction and Picks

Money Line for Kansas City Royals vs. Cleveland Guardians

  • Guardians Money Line (-116) (4 units)

The Guardians have a 5-1 record in their last six games versus the Royals at home. The Royals are 3-6 in their last nine games against the AL Central on the road. Cleveland is too motivated to cool down their winning streak as they seem determined to make it to the postseason. While the Royals are desperate for a win to break their losing streak and to add hope for a post season, I believe the Guardians have an easier path in front of them if they can sweep this series.

Over/Under Pick for Kansas City Royals vs. Cleveland Guardians

  • Under 8 (-108 ) (4 units)

The Royals have an over/under record of 2-9 in their last 11 games. The Guardians have an over/under record of 2-4-1 in their last seven games at home. Both teams this season have demonstrated their abilities at the mound and is what has gotten them so close to the wild card. The Royals will be unable to win a match if they attempt to keep up with the Guardians at the plate so to keep this game close, they will have to rely on their pitching to keep it close.
