Dodgers have tight grip on title
The Dodgers have looked every bit the defending World Series champs thus far, losing just one through six postseason games. Their loss came in Game 3 of the ALDS, but they bounced back the next night in Philly to close things out. Offensively, the team hit just .199 in their four-game series against the Phillies, and they scored only 13 runs, but it was plenty. They’ve plated 31 runs combined this postseason and 18 of their 56 hits have been for extra bases. Coming into this series, Mookie Betts had been the team’s top hitter, collected 10 hits and posted a .385 average. The shortstop had three doubles, a triple, four RBIs and a run scored. Teoscar Hernadez added eight hits, including three home runs and he’s driven in a team-high nine RBIs in six games. Shohei Ohtani only had four hits, but two of them were home runs and he’s driven in five while scoring three times.
In the pitching department, Los Angeles has had some issues with their bullpen. Their relievers worked 20.1 innings and had a 5.75 ERA and allowing 22 hits and 15 walks. The addition of Roki Sasaki on the back end has helped calm things a bit as the right-hander has two saves and has struck out five while allowing just one hit in four appearances. Dodgers’ starters have done quite well, posting a 2.02 ERA while earning four wins. The staff as a whole recorded 63 strikeouts in their first two series and allowed only three home runs.

Brewers aiming at first title
The Brewers ran the gauntlet of emotions in their Divisional Series versus Chicago, first taking a commanding 2-0 lead before the Cubs stuffed them to force a deciding fifth game. Their offense scored more in each of their first two games than they did in the next three combined, and in the series, Milwaukee hit .250 as a team. Of their 40 hits, 14 were for extra bases, and they scored 22 runs in five games. They drew 18 walks, stole two bases, and struck out 34 times. Jackson Chourio paced the offense, hitting .389 and driving in six runs. Andrew Vaughn collected four hits, four RBIs, and four runs. The first baseman hit two home runs and drew three walks while not striking out. William Contreras also added two home runs and picked up six hits, three RBIs and five runs.
The Milwaukee pitching staff comes into this series with a 3.35 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and .200 opponents’ batting average after their ALDS series. They recorded 46 strikeouts, allowed 18 walks, and served up nine home runs. Brewers’ starting pitchers earned just one win and had an 8.31 ERA, though they used openers in three of their five games. Their relievers worked 30 innings in the series and allowed only four earned runs and eight walks while striking out 28 batters. Chad Patrick tossed 4.2 spotless innings, striking out six in four relief appearances.

Dodgers vs. Brewers Picks
Spread Pick for Dodgers vs. Brewers
- Brewers ML (5 units)
The Brewers came into this series have won all six meetings between the teams this series. That can be thrown out the window at this point in the postseason. This is going to be a tug-of-war series, and this is probably the best spot for Milwaukee to tug the rope to their side. Peralta has been a horse for the club this season, and their postseason has basically come down to him and then run bullpen games thereafter. At home this season, the Brewers’ starter is 9-1 with a 1.77 ERA, and opponents hit just .192 against him there. The Dodgers have hit just .194 on the road in the postseason. The Brewers went 52-29 at American Family Field this season and have yet to lose there in the postseason.
Take Milwaukee.
Over/Under Pick for Dodgers vs. Brewers
- Under (5 units)
This matchup brings us an excellent clash of starting pitchers. Yamamoto has been dealing down the stretch, allowing a combined eight runs over his last nine starts. In that stretch, he went at least six innings in seven of them and struck out at least seven batters six times. Peralta allowed a combined 15 runs over his last 12 starts, and he lasted at least five innings in 10 of those games. These two hurlers were in the top seven in the National League in strikeouts. Both offenses started their postseason with some gusto but have since cooled. Los Angeles scored two runs apiece in their last two games against the Phillies. Milwaukee scored three runs twice in their last three games against the Cubs, with the other game seeing them held scoreless.
Take the under.
