Los Angeles Seeking Third Straight World Series Title

The Los Angeles Dodgers have not missed the playoffs since 2012 and have won consecutive World Series titles. The Dodgers finished the regular season 17 games above .500 on the road and are a -165 betting favorite to win this series. On Wednesday, Andy Pages delivered a go-ahead two-run single in the seventh inning to lift Los Angeles to a 4-1 road victory against Atlanta. 

Los Angeles skipper Dave Roberts has not named a starting pitcher for the series opener. Two-time Cy Young Award winner Tarik Skubal (12-7 2.72 ERA) was acquired in a trade deadline deal with Detroit and is the obvious choice to take the ball for the Dodgers. Through 158 plus innings, Skubal retired 186 batters by strikes and owns a minuscule 0.96 WHIP. 

The Dodgers ranked second in the majors with a .767 OPS and averaged 4.94 runs per game during the regular season. Los Angeles tied for seventh in home runs with 204 and have already crushed eight long balls in four postseason games. 3B Max Munch finished second on the club with 29 home runs and accounted for three bombs in the four game series victory against the Braves.

Milwaukee Ready to Dethrone the Champs

The Milwaukee Brewers have been in the playoffs in eight of the last nine seasons, but have not advanced to the World Series since 1982. During the regular season, the Brewers won 55 of 81 home games and finished with the best overall record in the majors. Milwaukee eliminated San Diego in the NL Division series and allowed just ten runs in four games. 

Milwaukee manager Pat Murphy has not announced his starting pitcher for Game One. The ball will undoubtedly be given to twenty-four year old righty Jacob Misiorowski (16-5 1.80 ERA). In the division series opener, Misiorowski lasted just four innings and gave up two runs during a 3-2 home victory. For the season, Misiorowski ranked first in the majors in ERA, strikeouts (252), and WHIP (0.80).

The Brewers ranked fourth in the majors with a .743 OPS and scored 5.14 runs per game for the regular season. Milwaukee is far less reliant on the long ball than Los Angeles and hit just 154 home runs. Twenty-two year old OF Jackson Chourio is a budding star for the Brewers. He led the team with a .291 batting average to go along with 25 home runs and 23 stolen bases.

Tarik Skubal won back-to-back Cy Young Awards for Detroit and allowed just one run in six innings to lead Los Angeles to a 5-3 victory against Atlanta in the series opener. Jacob Misiorowski will win his first Cy Young Award and posted the best opponents batting average against (.157) in major league history. Three runs should be plenty for the winning side, so take the under.
