Rangers Postseason Hopes Dwindling
The Rangers are in desperation mode as they play the final game of this road series against the Marlins. Texas lost its fifth game in a row and is five games behind Houston for the American League's final wild card with eight games left. The Astros swept three games against the Rangers this week and own the tiebreaker for winning the season series. Houston is a game behind Seattle for the AL West lead after losing 4-0 to the Mariners at home on Friday.
- Jacob Latz will take the mound in the final game of this series. He did not factor in the decision during Sunday's extra-inning loss to the Mets. He yielded one run on two hits and four walks while striking out four over 4.2 innings.
