Ureña has delivered an impressive rookie campaign, but Misiorowski’s elite run prevention, baserunner control and strikeout production give Milwaukee the stronger starting-pitching profile.

Milwaukee Sends Its Dominant Ace to the Mound

The Brewers entered Saturday with a 68-41 overall record after defeating Los Angeles 6-2 in Friday’s series opener. Milwaukee broke open a close game by scoring five runs in the fifth inning, receiving two home runs during the rally. The victory continued an impressive season for a Brewers team that held the second-best record in baseball and a comfortable lead in the National League Central entering August.

Milwaukee entered Saturday with a .255 batting average, a .338 on-base percentage and a .401 slugging percentage. The Brewers’ offense has not depended exclusively on a high batting average. Its ability to reach base, produce timely extra-base hits and take advantage of scoring opportunities has complemented one of baseball’s strongest pitching staffs. Milwaukee’s 3.50 team ERA and 1.17 WHIP were considerably better than the corresponding numbers for Los Angeles.

Misiorowski represents the Brewers’ clearest advantage Sunday. He allowed only one hit and one run while striking out 12 over five innings during his latest start against Colorado. The right-hander has recorded 185 strikeouts in only 120 innings while holding opponents to limited traffic throughout the season. Milwaukee does not need an explosive offensive performance if Misiorowski controls the Angels’ lineup, but its hitters face a legitimate challenge against Ureña and his 2.70 ERA.

Los Angeles Needs Ureña to Keep the Finale Close

The Angels entered Saturday with a 42-68 overall record after dropping Friday’s opener. Los Angeles had difficulty creating sustained offensive pressure, collecting only four hits and scoring both of its runs on a home run. The Angels allowed Milwaukee to score six times before their offense produced its first runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Los Angeles entered Saturday with a .314 on-base percentage and a .385 slugging percentage. Its pitching staff carried a 4.55 ERA and a 1.37 WHIP, creating a substantial disadvantage compared with Milwaukee’s season-long numbers. Friday’s game followed that pattern, as the Angels’ starter allowed five runs while the bullpen could not erase the early deficit.

Ureña gives Los Angeles a much better opportunity Sunday. He is coming off six scoreless innings against Houston in which he allowed only two hits. His 2.70 ERA is the strongest component of the Angels’ matchup, and he has posted a 2.41 ERA across his previous 15 appearances. The challenge will be generating enough offensive support against Misiorowski. Los Angeles must avoid strikeouts, create traffic whenever possible and take advantage of any rare opportunities with runners in scoring position.

Moneyline Pick:

• Milwaukee Brewers

I am backing Milwaukee on the moneyline. Ureña has pitched extremely well, but Misiorowski owns the more dominant statistical profile. His 1.58 ERA, 0.75 WHIP and 185 strikeouts give the Brewers a major advantage against an Angels lineup that generated only four hits Friday.

Milwaukee also owns the substantially better overall record and the stronger team pitching numbers. The Brewers entered August with the second-best record in baseball, while Los Angeles remained near the bottom of the standings. I would play Milwaukee at a reasonable favorite price but become more cautious if the moneyline moves beyond approximately -180.

Run Line Pick:

• Milwaukee Brewers -1.5

Milwaukee minus 1.5 runs is my preferred run-line position. Misiorowski’s ability to dominate opposing hitters gives the Brewers a realistic path to winning comfortably without requiring a particularly large offensive performance. Milwaukee also demonstrated Friday that it can create separation quickly when presented with a productive inning.

Ureña’s 2.70 ERA makes the run line more difficult than the moneyline, but Los Angeles may struggle to provide enough support against Misiorowski. If Milwaukee scores four or five runs, that could be sufficient to cover the run and a half.

Total Pick:

• Under 8.5

I prefer the under if the total is set at 8.5. Misiorowski and Ureña enter with ERAs of 1.58 and 2.70, respectively, providing the strongest starting-pitching combination in this series. Misiorowski has allowed only 62 hits through 120 innings, while Ureña has surrendered 69 hits across 93.1 innings.

The Angels’ bullpen creates some late-game concern, but Los Angeles may contribute very little against Milwaukee’s ace. Ureña’s recent form should also prevent the Brewers from immediately producing another six-run performance. I would play Under 8.5 and remain interested at 8, but I would become more cautious if the market falls to 7.5.
