The Milwaukee Brewers visit the Philadelphia Phillies at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on Wednesday, September 23, 2026. First pitch is scheduled for 6:40 PM ET with coverage on MLB.TV. Milwaukee enters at 98-58 overall and 46-32 on the road, while Philadelphia is 86-70 overall and 41-34 at home. The Brewers lead the NL Central by 11 games and entered this series riding a three-game winning streak, while Philadelphia sits second in the NL East, six games behind Atlanta. Milwaukee also holds a 2-1 advantage in the season series after taking two of three from Philadelphia in June. At the time of this writing the odds were not released. Starting Pitchers

Milwaukee is scheduled to start Logan Henderson, who enters at 10-3 with an excellent 2.51 ERA and 0.81 WHIP through 93.1 innings. He has allowed only 60 hits while recording 107 strikeouts against just 16 walks, although he has surrendered 14 home runs. Philadelphia counters with Aaron Nola, who is 7-10 with a 4.49 ERA and 1.35 WHIP through 168.1 innings. He has allowed 169 hits and 34 home runs while striking out 169 and walking 58. The statistical advantage belongs clearly to Milwaukee in this matchup. The Brewers' starter has allowed fewer than six hits per nine innings and has displayed outstanding command, while Philadelphia's starter has allowed more than twice as many home runs despite pitching fewer than twice as many innings.

Milwaukee Brings an Elite All-Around Profile

Milwaukee enters Wednesday with the best record of the two teams at 98-58 and has been excellent away from home with a 46-32 road mark. The Brewers have won four of their five most recently completed games, including three consecutive victories in Baltimore by scores of 6-5, 1-0 and 3-0. Across those five games, Milwaukee scored 19 runs and allowed 16. The two shutouts to finish the Baltimore series were particularly impressive and fit with what has been one of the stronger pitching profiles in baseball this season.

The Brewers are batting .258 with 802 runs, 1,369 hits and 149 home runs while producing a .341 on-base percentage and .403 slugging percentage. Their pitching has been even more impressive, with a 3.54 team ERA and 1.19 WHIP. Milwaukee pitchers have issued 500 walks against 1,492 strikeouts while limiting opponents to a .223 batting average. Those numbers give the Brewers advantages over Philadelphia in batting average, runs, hits, on-base percentage, ERA, WHIP and opponent batting average.

Milwaukee's biggest strength is balance. The Brewers have not depended on overwhelming home-run production, as their 149 homers are actually 30 fewer than Philadelphia's 179. Instead, Milwaukee consistently gets runners on base and combines that offense with excellent run prevention. A .341 team on-base percentage paired with a 3.54 ERA is difficult to overcome, and Wednesday's starting matchup only strengthens that combination. Milwaukee enters with the better season-long pitching staff and the more effective starter.

Philadelphia Faces a Difficult Pitching Matchup

Philadelphia comes into Wednesday at 86-70 overall and 41-34 at Citizens Bank Park. The Phillies have gone 3-2 over their five most recently completed games, with victories of 3-0, 3-0 and 7-2 along with losses of 6-3 and 10-3. Philadelphia scored 19 runs and allowed 18 across those five contests. The Phillies remain comfortably above .500 and have played winning baseball at home, but this matchup presents a considerably different challenge against the NL Central leaders.

The Phillies are batting .241 with 697 runs, 1,260 hits and 179 home runs. They own a .312 on-base percentage and .397 slugging percentage. Philadelphia's pitching staff carries a 4.00 ERA and 1.29 WHIP while issuing 468 walks and recording 1,510 strikeouts. Opponents are batting .248 against Phillies pitching. The strikeout production has been excellent, but Philadelphia has not been nearly as effective as Milwaukee at preventing hits or keeping runners off base.

Power gives Philadelphia its clearest path to changing this matchup. The Phillies have hit 30 more home runs than Milwaukee, and that ability to create instant offense cannot be ignored at home. The problem is that their opponent has been substantially better at limiting baserunners, and Wednesday's pitching matchup magnifies that issue. Philadelphia will need to generate damage against a starter carrying a 0.81 WHIP, while its own pitching matchup presents considerably more opportunities for a Milwaukee offense averaging better than five runs per game for the season.

Milwaukee Brewers vs Philadelphia Phillies Picks and Prediction

Pick: Milwaukee Brewers Moneyline

Milwaukee is the preferred side behind a significant starting-pitching advantage and the stronger overall statistical profile. The Brewers enter with a .258 batting average, .341 on-base percentage, 3.54 ERA and 1.19 WHIP compared with Philadelphia's .241 average, .312 OBP, 4.00 ERA and 1.29 WHIP. Milwaukee also has the superior record and has gone 46-32 away from home. Most importantly, the Brewers have a major advantage in Wednesday's starting matchup, with a 2.51 ERA and 0.81 WHIP opposing a 4.49 ERA and 1.35 WHIP. Philadelphia's home record and superior home-run production deserve respect, but Milwaukee has more ways to control this game. Take the Brewers on the moneyline if the eventual price remains reasonable.

Pick: Under 8.5 or Higher

The under gets the call at 8.5 or better. Milwaukee has allowed only 16 runs across its last five completed games and enters with a 3.54 team ERA, 1.19 WHIP and .223 opponent batting average. The Brewers also allowed just one run over their final two games in Baltimore. Wednesday's Milwaukee starter has been even more difficult to solve, carrying a 2.51 ERA and 0.81 WHIP while allowing only 60 hits through 93.1 innings. Philadelphia has enough power to threaten this play, and Milwaukee has an offense capable of exploiting its pitching advantage, but the Brewers' run-prevention profile provides the strongest foundation for the total. At 8.5 or higher, the under offers the better side of the number.

Final Picks: Milwaukee Brewers Moneyline and Under 8.5 or Higher
