MLB Picks for October 27, 2026

By: Kim Smith Published 10/27/2026, 01:00 AM ET

The Milwaukee Brewers visit the Tampa Bay Rays at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida, on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, for Game 4 of the World Series. First pitch is scheduled for 8:00 PM ET on FOX. Milwaukee won the first two games of the series, but Monday's Game 3 result and Tuesday's starting pitchers still need to be confirmed before this preview can be finalized.

The first two games were close. Milwaukee won the opener 3-2, then came back from a four-run deficit to win Game 2 by a 5-4 score. Tampa Bay had opportunities to win both contests, but the Brewers were better at finishing games. That's been a familiar story throughout October.

Milwaukee Brewers Have Been Difficult to Finish Off

Milwaukee went 103-59 during the regular season and entered the World Series with one of baseball's strongest postseason records. The Brewers haven't needed dominant offensive performances every night. They've been able to survive difficult innings, get timely hits and turn close games over to their bullpen.

That relief pitching has been particularly important. Milwaukee's bullpen helped protect the Game 1 lead and completed the comeback in Game 2. The Brewers have also shown they can produce late runs against Tampa Bay, which makes them dangerous even when they're trailing entering the middle innings.

The biggest question for Game 4 is how much work the bullpen handles Monday. A heavily used relief corps would make Milwaukee less attractive Tuesday, particularly if the Brewers don't get a long outing from their starting pitcher.

Tampa Bay Rays Looking to Protect Home Field

Tampa Bay went 98-64 during the regular season, including an outstanding 55-26 home record. The Rays have been difficult to beat at Tropicana Field, and their pitching has been a major reason. Tampa Bay's staff finished the regular season with a 3.69 ERA, ranking among baseball's better pitching groups.

The Rays haven't been overwhelmed by Milwaukee, either. Both World Series losses were decided by one run, and Tampa Bay had opportunities to change the outcome late in each game. Returning home gives the Rays a chance to make this a much more competitive series.

Still, Tampa Bay needs to do a better job protecting leads. The four-run advantage that disappeared in Game 2 is exactly the kind of mistake that can decide a championship series.

Milwaukee Brewers vs. Tampa Bay Rays Best Bet

Best Bet: Milwaukee Brewers Moneyline (+100 or Better)

My preliminary lean is Milwaukee at even money or better. The Brewers have been more dependable in late innings, and their ability to win close games gives them a reasonable chance against Tampa Bay even on the road. Milwaukee doesn't need to dominate offensively if its pitching can keep the game within reach through six innings.

The concern is Tampa Bay's home-field advantage. The Rays won 55 regular-season games at Tropicana Field, and their pitching staff is capable of controlling this matchup. Monday's bullpen usage and Tuesday's starting pitchers are especially important. If Milwaukee has to use several key relievers heavily in Game 3, the value of this pick changes.

At an even-money return, I prefer the Brewers based on what they've demonstrated throughout October. But I wouldn't chase them at a substantial favorite's price, and this selection should remain provisional until Game 3 is final and the pitching matchup is confirmed.

Final Pick: Milwaukee Brewers Moneyline (+100 or Better) — Conditional

This is a preliminary Game 4 selection based on information available before confirmation of Monday's final result and Tuesday's starting pitchers. The +100 price is a target, not a verified sportsbook offer. Update the series score, pitching matchup, bullpen availability and odds before publication.
