MLB Picks for October 6, 2026

Tuesday's MLB postseason schedule is short, but both National League Division Series games carry plenty of weight. Los Angeles and Atlanta return to the field with their series even at one game apiece, while Milwaukee has a chance to finish off San Diego after taking the first two games of that matchup.

The betting board presents two very different decisions. Atlanta and Los Angeles are essentially playing a pick'em behind two elite starting pitchers, while Milwaukee is getting plus money despite being one win away from advancing. Los Angeles Dodgers vs Atlanta Braves Pick

Atlanta is a slight -109 favorite against Los Angeles, with the Dodgers sitting at -101 and the total compressed all the way down to 6. Yoshinobu Yamamoto gets the ball for Los Angeles opposite Chris Sale, giving Tuesday's early game one of the best starting-pitcher matchups of the postseason.

The low total is easy to understand. Yamamoto brings a 2.53 ERA into the matchup, while Sale finished at 2.16, and neither lineup should expect many easy scoring opportunities in the first half of the game. The problem for total bettors is that six leaves almost no room for error. Even a 4-2 finish only pushes, while a 4-3 game loses an Under immediately.

The moneyline provides more flexibility, and Atlanta has been the more profitable team at the current price. The Braves finished 54-30 at home for +9.90 units. A bettor risking $100 on each Atlanta home moneyline would have made approximately $990.

Los Angeles has been excellent in straight-up terms but much harder to back financially. The Dodgers went 101-63 overall yet lost 16.15 units on the moneyline. Their 49-32 road record also finished 2.70 units in the red, illustrating how frequently bettors have been forced to pay a premium for one of baseball's most recognizable teams.

Atlanta also owns the better first-five betting profile. The Braves went 48-36 at home on the first-five run line for +10.25 units, while Los Angeles finished 78-86 overall in that market for -22.35 units. With the full-game price still close to even, there is no need to ask the Braves to cover a margin or force a very low total.

Pick: Atlanta Braves ML (-109)

Milwaukee Brewers vs San Diego Padres Pick

Milwaukee is one victory from moving on, yet the Brewers enter Game 3 as a +118 road underdog. San Diego is -130, the total is 7 and Dustin May will face Nick Pivetta.

The pitching matchup favors the Padres on paper. May carries a 4.70 ERA into the game, while Pivetta is at 2.86. San Diego also finished the season with an excellent home record and produced +17.50 units in home moneyline games, so the Padres have legitimate reasons to be favored.

The price still makes Milwaukee the more appealing wager.

The Brewers went 105-59 on the moneyline and produced +24.10 units, a +9.89% return. Their success was not limited to Milwaukee either. The Brewers were 48-33 on the road for +7.70 units, giving them a strong enough away profile to make a plus-money price particularly attractive.

Division Series underdogs have also continued to reward bettors. Since 2022, they are 36-36 for +11.00 units. That is a useful example of why a team does not need to win more than half its games to be profitable when the price consistently offers enough upside.

The total is less appealing than it looked earlier in the series. Division Series games lined at 7 are now 30-34-7 to the Under for -2.07 units, so the broader postseason history no longer gives the low side much support. Seven does provide push protection, but the Milwaukee moneyline is the cleaner way to attack this matchup.

There is also some early-scoring potential despite the modest full-game total. Division Series games have produced a run in the first inning 39 times against 35 scoreless opening frames since 2022, and May's 4.70 ERA gives San Diego a plausible route to create immediate pressure. That does not outweigh the full-game side, but it is another reason not to make the Under the primary position.

Pick: Milwaukee Brewers ML (+118)

MLB Best Bet for October 6

Milwaukee +118 is the top play on Tuesday's two-game card. The Padres have the better starting-pitcher numbers and an excellent home record, but Milwaukee's 105-59 season and +24.10-unit return provide plenty of evidence that the Brewers can continue to win even when the market makes them an underdog.

The price is the deciding factor. At +118, Milwaukee does not have to be the better team in every category. The Brewers simply need to win often enough for the plus-money payout to compensate for the losses, and their season-long record shows they have consistently done that.

Atlanta -109 is a solid second play in the earlier game, particularly with the Braves' profitable home record and Los Angeles' poor moneyline return despite 101 victories. Between the two, Milwaukee offers the larger payoff while still bringing one of baseball's strongest season-long moneyline profiles into the matchup.

Best Bet: Milwaukee Brewers ML (+118)
