Can the Phillies chase down top spot in the National League?
The Philadelphia Phillies have been dominant in recent times, and while they're just 38-37 on the road this season, they're just two games back of top spot in the National League, as they've opened up a massive 12-game lead in the NL East. The biggest success story for the Phillies this season has been MVP candidate Kyle Schwarber, who has put up an incredible 52 big flies and 127 RBI on the season, and with Bryce Harper, Trea Turner, and others contributing at a high level, this is a genuine World Series contender.
In this one, Philadelphia turns to dominant left-hander Ranger Suarez, who has put together another fantastic campaign in 2025, going 12-6 on the season while putting up a 2.77 ERA across an incredibly impressive 143.0 innings of work. Last time out for the Phillies was a big loss to the Kansas City Royals, with the team managing just five hits on the night as starter Aaron Nola was lit up for six runs over 6.0 innings as the team fell in their series finale 10-3.

Can the Dodgers keep a hold of their lead in the NL West?
Coming into 2025, the Los Angeles Dodgers looked like the best team in baseball, and while they've been dominant at home, going 48-26 in that time, they're still just 2.5 games up on the Padres in the National League West. The reason for the Dodgers' success once again in 2025 has been an offense that ranks third in baseball in runs scored, but with a 4.05 ERA that ranks them 18th in the league, they've got a major weakness to overcome come playoff time.
Taking the mound for Los Angeles here will be second-year righty Emmet Sheehan, a 25-year-old who has compiled a 3.32 ERA in 12 appearances this season, with his 59.2 innings of work resulting in a very impressive 69 total strikeouts. Last time out for the Dodgers was a big win over the rival San Francisco Giants, with four hits to Teoscar Hernandez leading an offensive breakout as Tyler Glasnow tossed an impressive 6.2 innings of one-run ball to lead the Dodgers to the 10-2 victory.
Philadelphia Phillies vs. Los Angeles Dodgers pick
Money Line Pick for Phillies vs. Dodgers
- Philadelphia +115 (4 units)
Despite both of these teams being loaded with high-end talent, this is an NL rivalry that's been dominated by the Phillies, who have posted an 8-2 record in their last 10 head-to-head matchups, including a 2-1 series win in their last meeting in Los Angeles.
On top of that, Philadelphia turns to one of the best pitchers in baseball after going 8-2 in their last 10 overall games, so expect a big road upset from the Phillies in game one of what could be an NLCS preview in 2025.
Over/Under pick for Philadelphia Phillies vs. Los Angeles Dodgers
- Over 8.5 (4 units)
Both of these teams bring great balance to the diamond, but the biggest strength of both is their lineups, with the over being 5-5 in their last 10 head-to-head encounters, with an average of 8.5 runs scored per game in their first series this season.
For the Phillies, the over sits at 7-2-1 in their last 10 overall games, with just under 6.5 runs scored per game in that time, and for the Dodgers, the over comes in at 5-5 in their past 10, with 19 runs scored in their last three games played at home.
Keep it simple, take the over.
