San Francisco Giants vs. Colorado Rockies prediction

In the finale of an NL West series on Wednesday night in the Mile High City, the Colorado Rockies (39-100) host the San Francisco Giants (70-69) The Giants go for the sweep after winning the first two games and the last game was a chippy one where three players were ejected. Right here in this San Francisco Giants vs. Colorado Rockies prediction, you can get the full score info, pitching matchup, and other free MLB picks.

The Giants come into the series finale as a huge favorite posted at -220 with the Rockies at +200 and a total of 11 runs.

Giants are Red Hot

A couple of weeks back, the Giants were under .500 and looked like out of the playoff race, but they still have a shot after winning nine of their last 10 games. In their last game they beat the Rockies 7-4, where four different Giants’ players had a HR and after Rafael Devers went yard, the Rockies had an issue with his celebration, which led to three players being tossed. San Fran is in third place in the NL West, 8.5 games out of the top spot and are five games out of the Wild Card.

  • On the season, the Giants rank sixth in the Majors in team ERA and 20th in runs scored.
  • Willy Adames (.230 26 HR 75 RBI) was one of the players ejected in the last game, ranks second on the team in HR and RBI, and has been hot with four HR and nine RBI over the last six games.
  • Devers (.263 30 HR 96 RBI) has gone yard in each of the last three games.
  • On the season, San Francisco is 35-35 on the road.

Robby Ray (10-6 3.18 ERA 1.16 WHIP) takes the mound for Game 3 and was lit up for six runs on six hits in 4 1/3 innings in his last start but the lineup had his back in a 15-8 win over the Baltimore Orioles. The Giants have won his last three starts and in the two before the last one he gave up three runs in each. Ray has pitched well in his two starts against the Rockies this season, giving up a total of two runs in 11 innings in two Giants’ wins.

Rockies Hit the 100 Mark

The Rockies have, by far, the worst record in the Majors and they hit the 100th loss mark in the last game. In the 7-4 loss Hunter Goodman launched a two-run HR and had all four RBI. Colorado has lost eight of their last 10 games and are the only team that has officially been eliminated from the playoffs.

  • Not hard to see why the Rockies are so bad, as they rank dead last in the Majors in team ERA and second to last in runs scored.
  • Goodman (.277 27 HR 80 RBI) leads the team in batting average. HR. and RBI and only had one RBI in five games before four in the last one.
  • Mickey Moniak (.262 18 HR 55 RBI) ranks second on the club in HR and RBI and has three RBI in the last six games.
  • On the season, Colorado is 22-49 at home.

German Marquez (3-12 6.14 ERA 1.69 WHIP) gets the nod for Game 3 and in his last start gave up a season-high eight runs on nine hits in 4 1/3 innings in an 11-7 loss to the Chicago Cubs. The Rockies have lost three of his last four starts and in the two before the last one he gave up a total of four runs in nine innings. In one start against the Giants this season Marquez gave up five runs in 4 1/3 innings in a loss.

Giants run line -1.5 runs -140 (+4 Units)

The Giants are 9-1 in their last 10 games and go for the sweep after winning the first two games of this series. On the other side of the coin the Rockies are 2-8 in their last 10 games and have, by far, the worst record in baseball. While San Fran only ranks 20th in the Majors in runs scored, they have totaled 28 runs in winning their last three games. Their lineup will get it done again, facing Marquez, who gave up eight runs in his last start and five in the lone start against the Giants. The Rockies will also have a decent game at the dish facing Ray, who gave up six runs in his last start and three in the two before that. Regarding the San Francisco Giants vs. Colorado Rockies prediction the Giants will finish off the sweep with a great game at the plate. Like the first two games of this series, the Giants will win by at least two runs, so take the run line to get better odds.

Over 11 runs (+5 Units)

The total has gone Over in three of the last four games for the Giants and that is the pick I am leaning for in Game 3. The Giants have totaled 28 runs in their last three games and they will stay hot at the dish facing Marquez. He has an ERA north of 6.00, gave up eight runs in his last start, and gave up five runs in his lone start against the Giants. Ray has pitched well in two starts facing the Rockies but they will get some runs off him in this game, as he gave up six runs in his last start and three runs in the two outings before that. This series finale will be the opposite of a pitcher’s duel and in a high-scoring affair the Over is the pick.
