The San Francisco Giants open a three-game series against the Texas Rangers at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, on Monday, August 3, 2026. The first pitch is scheduled for 8:05 p.m. ET, with national coverage available on ESPN and the ESPN App. San Francisco enters the matchup at 47-64 overall and 21-37 on the road, while Texas stands at 55-56 overall and 28-25 at home. The early market prices both teams close to even, with the Giants around -107 and the Rangers near -108. A widely available run line and total had not been established at the time of writing. Starting Pitchers

Logan Webb is scheduled to start for San Francisco. The right-hander is 6-7 with a 3.93 ERA and a 1.12 WHIP through 119 innings. He has allowed 103 hits, 30 walks and nine home runs while recording 93 strikeouts. Texas is expected to counter with Cal Quantrill, who is 4-3 with a 3.84 ERA and a 1.24 WHIP across 58.2 innings. Quantrill has surrendered 55 hits, 18 walks and eight home runs while collecting 39 strikeouts. The two starters have similar ERAs, although Webb’s lower WHIP and larger workload give the Giants a modest pitching advantage.

San Francisco Tries To Reverse Its Road Struggles

San Francisco arrives in Arlington after a difficult weekend in San Diego. The Giants suffered a 6-5 loss on Saturday after rallying to tie the game in the eighth inning, only to surrender the deciding run in the ninth. That defeat dropped San Francisco to 47-64 and continued a disappointing season in which the team has struggled to generate consistent results away from home.

The Giants are batting .253 with a .309 on-base percentage and a .414 slugging percentage. San Francisco has recorded 960 hits, 124 home runs and 466 runs while stealing 48 bases. The lineup owns the better batting average, hit total and slugging percentage in this matchup, but the relatively low on-base percentage has limited its ability to convert that production into sustained scoring.

San Francisco carries a 4.38 team ERA and a 1.35 WHIP. Those figures make the bullpen and middle innings a concern, particularly for a club that has frequently struggled to protect narrow advantages. Webb provides the Giants with an opportunity to begin the series competitively because he limits baserunners and has allowed only nine home runs in 119 innings. San Francisco must take advantage of that starting-pitching stability because its 21-37 road record offers little margin for error.

Texas Returns Home Needing a Quick Response

Texas has lost four consecutive games after falling 5-4 to Houston on Saturday. The Rangers also suffered an 11-2 defeat in the series opener after losing their final two games against Baltimore. That downturn moved Texas below .500 and increased the importance of beginning its seven-game homestand with a more complete performance.

The Rangers are batting .245 with a .318 on-base percentage and a .403 slugging percentage. Texas has collected 908 hits, hit 128 home runs, scored 462 runs and stolen 55 bases. The Rangers trail San Francisco in batting average, hits and slugging percentage, but they hold a nine-point advantage in on-base percentage. Their 126 home runs also narrowly exceed the Giants’ total.

Texas owns a 4.32 team ERA and a 1.28 WHIP. The Rangers have the slightly lower ERA and the more noticeable advantage in WHIP, indicating that their staff has done a better job of limiting overall baserunners. Quantrill has performed effectively with a 3.84 ERA, but he has completed fewer than 60 innings and does not offer the same established workload as Webb. Texas will need to improve offensively after scoring only six combined runs across its first two games in Houston.

San Francisco Giants vs Texas Rangers Picks and Prediction

Moneyline Pick:

  • San Francisco Giants

I am taking San Francisco on the moneyline in a matchup priced close to even. Texas has the better overall record and returns to a ballpark where it has played above .500, but the Rangers enter on a four-game losing streak. Their offense also trails the Giants in batting average, hits and slugging percentage.

The scheduled pitching matchup provides the strongest reason to support San Francisco. Webb owns a 1.12 WHIP and has allowed only nine home runs through 119 innings. Quantrill has also pitched well, but Webb’s combination of control, durability and limited home-run damage gives the visitors a narrow advantage. I expect the Giants to use that edge to secure a close road victory.

Total Pick:

  • Under 8.5

I will take the under if the total is set at 8.5. Webb and Quantrill both carry ERAs below 4.00, while neither starter has allowed an excessive number of walks or home runs. That profile should help prevent the type of early scoring outburst that would immediately threaten the under.

Neither offense has been especially productive over the full season. San Francisco has scored 467 runs, while Texas has produced 462. The Rangers have also scored only six runs across their past two completed games. With two capable starters and both teams averaging close to 4.2 runs per contest, I expect a competitive game that remains below the target number. My projected result is San Francisco 4, Texas 3.
