Tampa Bay unable to deliver the big hit

The Tampa Bay Rays have qualified for the postseason in six of their last ten seasons and are in search of their first World Series title. The Rays finished five games above .500 on the road during the regular season and have won three of their five road playoff games. Last night, Tampa Bay batters went 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base during a 3-2 road loss. 1B Jonathan Aranda went 3-for-3 and scored a run for the Rays.

Tampa Bay manager Kevin Cash will give the nod to All-Star righty Drew Rasmussen (16-5 2.67 ERA) in Game Two. Rasmussen has allowed three runs and retired 23 batters by strikes in 21 postseason innings. Tampa Bay ranked 15th in the majors with a 4.12 bullpen ERA and closer Bryan Baker (7 IP) has notched five saves while not allowing a run in the playoffs.

During the regular season, Tampa Bay finished eighth in the majors in OPS and averaged 4.54 runs per game. The Rays have hit seven long balls and have scored 37 runs in ten playoff games. Leadoff hitter Yandy Diaz leads Tampa Bay this postseason with 12 hits and seven runs scored.

Milwaukee wins first World Series game since 1982

The Milwaukee Brewers have made eight playoff appearances in the last ten years and have suffered only one loss this postseason. The Brewers tied with the Rays for the most regular season home victories (55) and have won five straight home playoff games. In Game One, Christian Yelich started the scoring with an RBI triple and scored on a William Contreras single. OF Jackson Chourio went 2-for-4 with a run score and an insurance RBI single for the Brewers.

Milwaukee skipper Pat Murphy will counter with twenty-four year old righty Logan Henderson (11-3 2.47 ERA) on Saturday. Last time out, Henderson (4 IP) gave up three hits and four runs (2 ER) during a 7-4 home victory versus Los Angeles. The Brewers ranked second in the majors with a 3.22 bullpen ERA and closer Trevor Megill slammed the door shut last night with his fifth save of the playoffs.

The Brewers ranked fourth in the majors with a .743 OPS and scored 5.14 runs per game for the regular season. Milwaukee leads all playoff teams with a .739 OPS and has hit ten home runs in nine games. William Contreras has been on fire this postseason with a .394 batting average and three long balls.

Tampa Bay Rays vs Milwaukee Brewers Picks and Prediction

Pick: Tampa Bay Rays +105

Milwaukee P Brandon Woodruff is dealing with a shoulder injury and was not added to the World Series roster. The Rays have not lost consecutive games this season and saved their best pitcher for this spot. The Brewers have won four of their five home games by one run and that luck is due to come to an end. Take the Rays to even this series at one game each.

Pick: Over 6.5 (-115)

Tampa Bay batters struck out the fewest times during the regular season and only fanned three times in five innings versus Misiorowski. The Rays will make contact early and often against Henderson, who has given up six runs in nine postseason innings. When Tampa Bay was facing a 2-1 series deficit against Cleveland they responded with seven runs. Take the over.

Final Score Prediction: Tampa Bay Rays win 5-3
