Texas Rangers vs Arizona Diamondbacks Picks and Prediction for Tuesday, September 2, 2025
The Texas Rangers and Arizona Diamondbacks will meet for the second game of their September series this Tuesday, and we'll preview the lines and odds in our Rangers vs Diamondbacks prediction. Texas secured a road win in Monday's game, scoring a pair of runs in the 10th inning to win 7-5 and bring their 2025 record against Arizona up to 2-2.
Game 2 will start at 9:40 PM ET on Tuesday, September 2. Read on for our complete Rangers vs Diamondbacks prediction and free MLB picks.
Can Texas Make it 7 Straight?
After Monday's win, the Rangers are 72-67 overall, 10-2 in their last 12 games, and own the longest running streak of consecutive wins in the MLB at six games. They trail the Seattle Mariners – who would own the third wildcard berth in the AL playoffs if the season ended today – by only 1.5 games. They trail the Houston Astros – who currently lead the AL West, and whom the Rangers play six more times before the regular season concludes – by only four games. There's plenty to gain for the Rangers if they stay as hot as they've been; can they keep it up in their second game in Arizona?
For the season, the Rangers' offense ranks 18th in runs (596) and 24th in batting average (.238) and OPS (.696). Their pitching leads the league in ERA (3.44) and WHIP (1.17), while trailing only the Padres in batting average allowed (.227). In their last 12 games, they've scored 86 runs (7.167 per game) while allowing only 38 (3.167 per game).
The Rangers have yet to announce their starting pitcher for Tuesday's game. Patrick Corbin started on Monday; Nathan Eovaldi started the next game after six of Corbin's last seven starts, but he's currently on the 15-day IL due to a rotator cuff strain and isn't likely to return this season. Jacob Latz most recently started after Corbin, pitching just over four innings in the team's 20-3 win over the Angels.

What's Next for Arizona?
The Diamondbacks aren't out of it at 68-71, but they're fourth in the NL West, 6.5 games behind the Mets for a wildcard berth and 11 games behind the Dodgers for the division title. It'd take a significant push to break into the playoff picture with just over 20 games left to play in the regular season, and they haven't done anything to make such a push in their last couple of games. Sunday was a 4-5 loss to the Dodgers, Monday was a 5-7 loss to the Rangers, and Tuesday will see the team start Nabil Crismatt on the mound – a pitcher who'd only started one game in his six-year career before the team acquired him in August.
Arizona ranks fourth among MLB teams this season in runs (685) and OPS (.760). They've been held back by a pitching unit that ranks 24th in each of ERA (4.49), on-base percentage allowed (.254), and WHIP (1.33).
Crismatt has appeared in three games for the D-backs since signing in August, during which he's posted a 2-0 record, a 1.84 ERA, and a 1.36 WHIP. His best effort came in the team's 10-1 win over the Reds on August 23, during which he notched four strikeouts without allowing a run through four innings and 83 pitches.
Game Pick: Texas Rangers
The exact lines for this game aren't likely to be posted until the Rangers officially announce their starting pitcher, but they've run through the last couple weeks of their schedule like a buzzsaw regardless of who they started on the mound. They're 10-2 in their last 12 games with nine of those wins coming by multiple runs – enough to cover a 1.5-point run line as the favorite. Don't be dissuaded from taking the Rangers here by whatever name they announce as the starting pitcher; they'll be fine.
Total: Over
The Team Total Over is 8-4 in the Rangers' last 12 games and 3-1 in their meetings with the Angels this season. The line here won't be announced until the Rangers reveal their starter, but these teams have combined for ten or more points in three of their four 2025 meetings. They've averaged over seven runs per game through their last 12 games and have posted at least five runs in eight of their last nine outings. If the 9.0 line these teams saw ahead of Monday's game is anything to go by, I'd take these teams to hit the over again.
