Atlanta Hawks vs Washington Wizards Picks and Prediction for Wednesday November 4 2026
The Atlanta Hawks head to Washington on Wednesday night for a 7 PM ET game against the Wizards at Capital One Arena. Atlanta is 4-4 after getting past Indiana on Monday, while Washington improved to 4-3 with a road win over Orlando. Both teams are coming off victories, although I wouldn’t say either one has been particularly convincing this season. The Hawks have shown they can score, but they’ve also had nights where their defense looks like it forgot to show up. Washington has been a little tougher than expected. At the time of this writing, the betting odds were not released. Check out our free NBA picks for more predictions.
Atlanta Hawks Need to Find Some Consistency
Atlanta picked up a 108-104 win over Indiana on Monday, and that’s the kind of game the Hawks needed after getting knocked around by New Orleans over the weekend. They lost that one 121-99. Going from a 22-point loss to a road victory in two days tells you something about this team. You never quite know which version you’re going to get.
That’s my biggest problem with Atlanta. The Hawks have enough offense to put teams in trouble, but they don’t always do a particularly good job of keeping the other team from answering. When the shots are falling, everything looks fine. When they aren’t, Atlanta can get itself into a hole pretty quickly. Against Washington, I’d like to see the Hawks spend less time trading baskets and more time making the Wizards work for theirs.
Still, this is a game Atlanta should feel pretty good about. Washington has improved, but I don’t see the Wizards as a team that’s going to overwhelm anybody offensively. If the Hawks take care of the ball and get into their offense without wasting half the possession, they should find enough opportunities to score.
Washington Wizards Are Showing Some Fight
Washington is 4-3, and give the Wizards some credit. They went into Orlando on Monday and came away with a 103-94 victory. That followed a 95-79 win over Charlotte on Friday. Holding two opponents below 100 points is worth paying attention to, especially for a team that hasn’t exactly been known for shutting people down.
But here’s where I have a little trouble trusting Washington. The Wizards scored just 95 against Charlotte and 103 against Orlando. That was enough to win those games, but Atlanta can make you score considerably more when its offense gets going. Washington can’t assume another game in the low 100s will be enough.
The Wizards do have the home floor, and they’ve got a chance to make Atlanta uncomfortable if they keep playing defense the way they have recently. Make the Hawks take contested shots, don’t give away easy transition baskets, and see whether Atlanta gets impatient. That’s the formula. Whether Washington can keep it going for another night is what I’m questioning.
Atlanta Hawks vs Washington Wizards Picks and Prediction
Moneyline Pick: Atlanta Hawks
I’m going with Atlanta here. Washington has won two straight, and I know those defensive performances look good. But I’m not completely sold on the Wizards keeping that up against an Atlanta team that has more offensive potential than either Charlotte or Orlando showed in those games. The Hawks aren’t exactly a team I trust blindly, either. They can make things unnecessarily difficult. But I think Atlanta has enough scoring to force Washington out of its comfort zone. Give me the Hawks to win, although I’d want to see the price before deciding how much value there is.
Total Pick: Under — Pending Posted Line
I’m leaning under, but this is one where I really want to see the number. Washington’s last two games finished with 174 and 197 combined points, and the Wizards have been doing a much better job defensively. Atlanta can certainly push the pace and make this a higher-scoring game, so I’m not ignoring that possibility. I just think Washington is going to try to slow things down rather than get into a running contest. If the total opens high because of Atlanta’s offensive reputation, the under could be worth a look. Without a posted number, though, it’s only a lean.
