The Brooklyn Nets travel to Houston to face the Rockets at Toyota Center on Monday at 8:00 PM ET, airing on Space City Home Network. Brooklyn is 0-2 after dropping a pair of high-scoring contests, while Houston is also 0-2 despite two competitive games. Trends, injuries, matchups — NBA predictions for the Brooklyn Nets at the Houston Rockets.

Brooklyn Nets Look to End Early Skid

The Brooklyn Nets are 0-2 and giving up an average of 133.5 points per game through two contests. The offense has been strong, with the team scoring 120.5 points per game while shooting 47.8 percent from the field and dishing out 27.5 assists. Cam Thomas has been the key contributor early, scoring 33 points in the recent loss to Cleveland, while Michael Porter Jr. scored 31. Brooklyn has relied on perimeter scoring, but breakdowns defensively have overshadowed solid play by the offense.

On the season, the Nets are averaging 38 rebounds and 8.5 steals per game, but only an average of 1.5 blocks highlights their weakness in the paint. The defense has struggled to contain strong offenses, allowing opponents to shoot over 50 percent in both games. Their inability to defend in transition has cost them late leads. However, the offense’s ball movement and shot-making keep them competitive, especially with Thomas and Porter both capable of creating one-on-one against opponents.

Brooklyn’s last outing was a 131-124 loss to Cleveland. The Nets trailed by 25 in the third quarter but rallied late, closing to within one before running out of gas. Egor Demin hit a clutch 3-pointer to cut the deficit to 121-120, but consecutive misses allowed Cleveland to seal it. Brooklyn shot 47 percent overall and made a late push behind Thomas’s scoring burst, but in the end, turnovers and missed free throws prevented the comeback.

Houston Rockets Seek First Win Behind Durant’s Scoring

The Houston Rockets enter at 0-2 after close defeats to Oklahoma City and Detroit. The team has averaged 117.5 points per game but has allowed 120. The Rockets have struggled with shooting accuracy, hitting 41.7 percent from the field, though rebounding is a bright spot at 48.5 per game. Kevin Durant has led the way, scoring 37 points against Detroit while going 16 of 18 from the line and 3 of 3 from deep. Durant’s presence gives Houston a star half-court scorer capable of putting away games, but the team’s defense and secondary scoring have lagged.

The Rockets generate offense through isolation and free-throw attempts, with Durant carrying much of the load. Jabari Smith Jr. has chipped in as a spot-up shooter, and Alperen Sengun continues to provide interior scoring and rebounding. The Rockets’ defensive strengths are in the paint (3.5 blocks) and steals (10 per game), but transition defense has been inconsistent through two games.

In their latest loss, Houston fell 115-111 to Detroit despite Durant’s 37 points. The Rockets tied the game at 105 in the fourth quarter before a 6-0 Pistons run created separation. Durant’s late free throws cut the deficit to one, but the offense went cold in the final two minutes. Houston’s defense forced several misses but failed to capitalize on key possessions. The result marked their second straight loss by four points or fewer, emphasizing the need to play better with the game on the line.

Injuries:

  • Dorian Finney-Smith (F) – Game-time decision (Oct 27)
  • Fred VanVleet (G) – Out (Jun 1)

Brooklyn Nets at Houston Rockets Pick

Spread Pick for Brooklyn Nets at Houston Rockets

  • Houston Rockets (4 Units)

Houston’s rebounding edge and home-court advantage make them the slight favorite in what should be another close matchup. The Rockets’ frontcourt, led by Sengun and Smith Jr., has a significant size and rebounding advantage over Brooklyn’s smaller frontcourt. If Durant maintains his current form and the Rockets generate better perimeter scoring, Houston should be able to outlast a Brooklyn team still searching for consistency on defense.

Over/Under Pick for Brooklyn Nets at Houston Rockets

  •  Over 237.0 (4 Units)

Both teams have been involved in high-scoring contests, combining for an average of 238 points per game this season. Brooklyn’s defense has allowed 133.5 per outing, while Houston’s offensive pace and isolation-heavy sets keep possessions short. With both teams ranking near the bottom defensively but loaded with scoring talent, expect another fast-paced shootout that pushes over the posted total.
