Celtics

Boston returns home after a strong West Coast road trip, going 3-1 straight-up and against the spread. The Celtics have been elite defensively, allowing just 96.4 points per game over their last 11 outings.

The under has cashed in 12 of Boston’s last 14 games, which explains why this total opened as low as it did. There are no new injuries on the report, and the roster is healthy heading into this one.

Jayson Tatum has been playing full-contact scrimmages as he works back from an Achilles injury, and the team is hopeful to have him ready for the postseason.

Nets

Brooklyn is on the second leg of a back-to-back after losing at home to San Antonio. The Nets never held a lead in that game and finished -7 in turnover margin.

Since returning from the All-Star break, Brooklyn is 0-5 straight-up and against the spread, losing those games by an average of 17.6 points.

Still, there has been a modest offensive uptick. Over the last eight games, the Nets are averaging 107.3 points per contest. Michael Porter Jr. had 25 points and 14 rebounds in the loss to the Spurs, and no player logged more than 30 minutes.

Nets vs Celtics Game Preview and Analysis

Brooklyn has been a thorn in Boston’s side this season, pulling a massive upset in November and pushing the Celtics to overtime in January. That matters when evaluating a spread this large.

However, the recent form gap is significant. Boston is playing consistent defense and just finished a strong road trip. Brooklyn has not shown the ability to stay competitive since the break.

If I have to back Boston, this may be the right spot. It is their first home game after a long trip, which could bring some defensive slippage. That is why I lean over the total despite the recent under trend.

If fatigue shows up, it is more likely to appear on the defensive end. With Brooklyn’s recent scoring bump and Boston’s ability to create separation, I expect enough points to push this over 208.5.

Key Injuries and Notes - BKN and BOS

  • Brooklyn had no players listed on the injury report prior to the Spurs game.
  • Boston also enters with a clean injury report.
  • Jayson Tatum is working back from an Achilles injury but has been participating in scrimmages.
  • Brooklyn is on the second leg of a back-to-back.

Final Score Prediction

  • Celtics 118, Nets 98

ATS and Total Picks

  • Total: Over 208.5
