Charlotte Hornets vs Brooklyn Nets Picks and Prediction for Wednesday November 4 2026

By: Kim Smith Published 11/04/2026, 12:10 AM ET

Charlotte heads to Brooklyn on Wednesday night for a 7:30 PM ET matchup with the Nets at Barclays Center. Neither team has much to brag about right now. The Hornets are 3-5, Brooklyn is 1-6, and both are coming off losses on Monday. Charlotte is a 2.5-point road favorite, with the total sitting at 214.5. I can understand the Hornets being favored, but this isn’t exactly a game where I’d be excited about laying a bunch of points with either team. Check out our free NBA picks for more predictions.

Charlotte Hornets Have Some Explaining to Do

Charlotte got embarrassed at home Monday, losing 124-91 to Detroit. That’s 33 points, and there’s really no way to dress it up. The Hornets also lost 109-104 to Philadelphia on Saturday and managed only 79 points in a 95-79 loss to Washington last Friday. That’s three straight defeats, and the offense hasn’t exactly been carrying its weight.

The part that bothers me is how quickly Charlotte can get knocked out of a game. Against Philadelphia, the Hornets were competitive. Against Detroit, not even close. And when you score 79 against Washington, you’ve got some things to figure out. Charlotte needs to get better shots instead of spending long stretches hoping somebody gets hot.

But Brooklyn isn’t Detroit or Philadelphia. That’s why I’m not writing Charlotte off here. The Nets have been struggling themselves, and the Hornets should have opportunities to get their offense moving again. The question is whether Charlotte can take advantage without giving Brooklyn a bunch of easy baskets at the other end.

Brooklyn Nets Aren’t Giving Us Much to Trust

Brooklyn is 1-6 after losing 103-90 to the Knicks on Monday. The Nets did beat Indiana 98-90 on Sunday, so at least they’ve got a win on the board. Before that, though, Detroit beat them 110-94. There’s a pattern here, and it’s not particularly encouraging if you’re a Brooklyn fan.

The Nets haven’t been scoring enough. They’ve finished with 90, 98, and 94 points in their last three games. That’s an average of 94 points, and you’re not going to win very often in today’s NBA putting up numbers like that. Even when Brooklyn has managed to keep an opponent from scoring much, its own offense hasn’t always been able to finish the job.

Now, the Nets are home, and Charlotte just got blown out. That’s enough to make me a little nervous about backing the Hornets. Brooklyn could absolutely win this game if Charlotte brings the same effort it showed against Detroit. But I need to see the Nets put together something better offensively before I’m willing to trust them.

Charlotte Hornets vs Brooklyn Nets Picks and Prediction

Spread Pick: Charlotte Hornets -2.5

I’m laying the 2.5 with Charlotte, although I wouldn’t call this my favorite game on the board. Look, the Hornets have been bad lately. I watched the numbers from that Detroit game, and there’s nothing encouraging about losing by 33 at home. But Brooklyn has scored 94 points or fewer in two of its last three games and hasn’t shown much ability to put opponents away. Charlotte doesn’t need to play great basketball to cover a small number here. It just needs to be better than it was Monday. I think the Hornets bounce back enough to get the win by a few points.

Total Pick: Under 214.5

Give me the under 214.5. I know the NBA can turn into a scoring contest in a hurry, but these two offenses haven’t exactly been lighting things up. Brooklyn has averaged 94 points over its last three games, and Charlotte has scored 79 and 91 in two of its last three. That’s not much to get excited about. Sure, both defenses have weaknesses, and that could help the scoring. But I’m not counting on two struggling offenses suddenly finding their rhythm on the same night. I think this one stays under.

Final Picks: Charlotte Hornets -2.5 | Under 214.5
