Rockets’ Five-Game Win Streak Snapped
The Houston Rockets have one of the bright young cores in the NBA and they made a splash this offseason by bringing in veteran Kevin Durant. So far, Coach Ime Udoka and his squad are a modest 5-3 out of the gate. They were recently riding a five-game winning streak, but had that snapped last time out against the Spurs (121-110). From a sports betting perspective, Houston is 5-3 ATS and 6-2 to the over.
The Rockets were 3.5-point road favorites against the Spurs on Friday, so they failed to cover in the outright loss. Alperen Sengun led the way individually, dropping 25 points and adding nine rebounds and eight assists. From the team level, Houston was better in three-point shooting (48.1% to 40.0%) and rebounding (41 to 40), while San Antonio held edges in field goal rate (46.0% to 45.9%) and turnovers (20 to 23).
- The Rockets are scoring 122.9 points per game, which is the fifth-most in the NBA.
- They own a field goal rate of 48.9% (eighth), while cashing 43.3% of their triples (first).
- Houston’s defense is seventh in efficiency, allowing 109.2 points per 100 possessions.
- Injury Report: Dorian Finney-Smith (ankle) and Fred VanVleet (ACL) both remain sidelined with long-term injuries.

Bucks Bounce Back, Beat Bulls
As for Coach Doc Rivers and his Milwaukee Bucks, they’re coming off of a season where they won the NBA Cup in-season tournament. This year’s team is 6-3 out of the gate, and they’re coming off of a nice win on Friday over the Bulls (126-110). Milwaukee is currently 6-3 ATS and 5-4 to the over.
It was none other than Giannis Antetokounmpo leading the way on Friday, registering a double-double with 41 points and 15 boards. He also led the team with nine assists. As for the team-level metrics, the Bucks held edges in three-point shooting (41.0% to 30.3%), rebounding (53 to 45), and turnovers (11 to 14), while the Bulls were better in field goal percentage (48.9% to 46.6%). Milwaukee covered as 4.5-point home favorites.
- Milwaukee is averaging 120.6 points per game, which is the eighth-most in the Association.
- The Bucks are currently ranked fourth in field goal rate (50.2%) and fourth in three-point shooting (39.7%).
- Defensively, they are 16th in efficiency, conceding 112.7 points per 100 possessions.
- Injury Report: Kevin Porter Jr. (knee) and Taurean Prince (neck) are both out, while Giannis Antetokounmpo (knee) is listed as probable.
Rockets vs. Bucks Pick
Spread Pick for Rockets vs. Bucks
- Houston Rockets -3.5 (-110) (5 units)
I’m going to lay the points and play the Rockets in this game. For starters, I don’t really trust that the Bucks have the depth scoring to hang around in this game. They have Giannis Antetokounmpo (33.4 PPG), but after him there’s really no reliable second option for the Bucks.
Additionally, I like that the Rockets have the size to match up well with the Bucks. They rank first in rebound rate (55.9%) and they also boast a top-10 defense. This could spell trouble for Milwaukee, since their lineup is pretty top-heavy. I’ll take Houston, who is on an 8-4 ATS run overall and has covered in four of their last five head-to-head meetings with Milwaukee.
Over/Under Pick for Rockets vs. Bucks
- Over 231.5 (-110) (5 units)
I’m also taking the over in this game. These have been two of the best offenses in the Association this season, each scoring more than 120.5 points per game. They each rank inside the top 10 in both field goal rate and three-point shooting.
The over is on a 5-1 run for Houston, and it’s 5-1 in Milwaukee’s last six games. There is a lot of star power in this game, and I think it’s likely that both teams will hit the 115-point mark. Give me the over.
