The Losses Continue To Pile Up

The Pacers come into Detroit at 1-12, stuck in a seven-game losing streak after dropping their most recent game 129-111 at home to Toronto. That loss was another reminder of how much they miss Tyrese Haliburton, who’s out for the season, as the offense continues to sputter without its leader. Pascal Siakam has been the lone consistent force, scoring 27 against the Raptors and averaging nearly 25 points per game, but he’s been asked to carry too much of the load. Andrew Nembhard’s return has helped stabilize the backcourt — he chipped in 18 points and seven assists in that Toronto game — yet the lack of reliable scoring options around them has left Indiana chasing games early and often.

Injuries have compounded the problem, with Bennedict Mathurin, Aaron Nesmith, and Obi Toppin all sidelined, forcing Rick Carlisle to lean heavily on role players like Isaiah Jackson and Jeremiah Robinson-Earl. Those guys bring energy and effort, but they aren’t difference-makers against deeper rosters, and the Pacers’ numbers reflect that reality. They’re averaging just 108.7 points per game, 29th in the league, while giving up 123.2 points per game, which ranks near the bottom defensively. That imbalance has made it nearly impossible to string together wins, and the frustration has been evident in their body language during this skid.

Still, there are glimpses of fight. Siakam has been vocal about competing every night, and Nembhard’s return at least gives them a capable ball-handler who can organize the offense and keep possessions alive. The Pacers have shown flashes of being competitive when they cut down turnovers and hit shots from deep, but those stretches haven’t lasted long enough to change outcomes. Heading into Detroit, they’ll need everything to click perfectly to avoid extending their losing streak to eight, and against one of the hottest teams in the league, that’s a tall order.

Pistons have Won Their last nine Games In A Row

Detroit kept its nine-game winning streak alive with a 114–105 victory over Philadelphia, improving to 11-2 and continuing to look like one of the East’s most complete teams. Javonte Green was the standout, pouring in 21 points while hitting three triples and going 8-for-9 from the line, showing his ability to score in multiple ways. Daniss Jenkins was sharp from deep, knocking down five threes on his way to 19 points and eight assists, giving the Pistons steady playmaking in the backcourt. David Robinson added 15 points with three triples of his own, while Caris LeVert came off the bench to chip in 14 in just under 23 minutes, providing the kind of balanced scoring that has defined Detroit’s hot start.

The frontcourt contributions were equally important. Paul Reed battled inside for 10 points, six rebounds, and three blocks, while Isaiah Stewart added 14 points and seven boards, giving Detroit toughness in the paint. Rookie Ron Holland II had a quieter night shooting (4-for-15), but still contributed nine points, five rebounds, and three steals, showing his energy on both ends. Even role players like Chris Lanier and Walter Moore Jr. gave productive minutes, combining for 10 points and six rebounds, while B. Klintman knocked down his lone shot in limited action. The Pistons finished with six players in double figures, a testament to their depth and ability to spread the floor.

Defensively, Detroit forced Philadelphia into tough looks and capitalized on turnovers, with Green and Holland both active in passing lanes. Their ability to rebound collectively — nine boards from Green, seven from Stewart, and six apiece from Robinson and Reed — kept second-chance opportunities limited. J.B. Bickerstaff’s squad has embraced a gritty identity, and it showed again in this win: they controlled tempo, hit timely shots, and leaned on their depth when stars like Cade Cunningham and Jalen Duren were unavailable. With confidence soaring and contributions coming from every corner of the roster, the Pistons look poised to extend their streak further, especially against a struggling Pacers team that hasn’t been able to match this kind of balance or defensive intensity.

Indiana Pacers vs Detroit Pistons Pick

Pacers vs Pistons Spread Pick

  • Detroit -9.5 (3 Units)

Detroit -9.5 looks like the right side given how the Pistons have been rolling through opponents during their nine-game win streak. Their 114-105 win over Philadelphia showed exactly why they’re such a tough cover: balanced scoring with six players in double figures, Javonte Green attacking from the wing, Daniss Jenkins knocking down five threes and running the offense, and Paul Reed and Isaiah Stewart controlling the paint. Even without Cade Cunningham and Jalen Duren at full strength, Detroit has proven it can lean on depth and still dictate tempo. Against a Pacers team that’s dropped seven straight and sits at 1-12, the Pistons’ defensive pressure and rebounding edge should create separation.

Indiana has struggled to keep games close, giving up 123 points per night while shooting under 37% in their last outing against Toronto. Pascal Siakam and Andrew Nembhard provide some fight, but the injuries to Bennedict Mathurin, Aaron Nesmith, and Obi Toppin have left them short-handed and vulnerable. Detroit’s ability to force turnovers and convert them into transition buckets is exactly the kind of mismatch that can turn this into another double-digit win. With confidence soaring and contributions coming from every corner of the roster, the Pistons have the tools to cover the -9.5 spread at home and extend their streak to ten.

Pacers vs Pistons Over/Under Pick

  • Under 229 (2 Units)

The Under 229 makes sense because Detroit has leaned on defense and balance during their nine-game win streak, holding Philadelphia to just 105 points in their latest win and ranking top-five in points allowed overall. Indiana, meanwhile, has struggled to generate consistent offense, averaging under 109 points per game and shooting poorly in their recent loss to Toronto. With the Pacers missing key scorers and the Pistons thriving on rebounding and forcing turnovers, this matchup sets up as a slower, grind-it-out game where Detroit controls tempo and keeps the total under the 229 mark.
