Pacers vs Knicks prediction

Pacers vs Knicks picks matter on Tuesday because the market is asking you to lay a big number with a team that is playing elite basketball in every key area right now. New York is crushing at the betting window and the defensive trend is strong, so I am comfortable backing the favorite again. If you are building a slate, this is one of my favorite spots for NBA picks.

TLDR - Picks and Prediction

  • Spread Pick: Knicks -12
  • Total Pick: Under 224.5
  • Projected Final Score: Knicks 117, Pacers 104

Odds and Line Movement

The spread has mostly held in the -12 range, which tells me the market is comfortable pricing in New York’s current form even with back-to-back scheduling notes. The total has moved around the 223.5 to 224.5 range, and I still lean under because New York has been controlling pace with defense and rebounding.

Pacers vs Knicks Game Preview and Analysis

New York earned a 114-113 road win in Indiana in the lone meeting this season on December 18, and that result stands out because it came in a brutal scheduling spot for the Knicks. New York was returning from Vegas after winning the NBA Cup two nights prior, and it still got the win.

What makes that win more impressive is New York did it without Josh Hart, Karl-Anthony Towns, Mitchell Robinson and Landry Shamet. That matters because it tells me New York can win this matchup even when it is not at full strength.

Both teams are on equal rest after playing on Sunday, and both are on the front end of a back-to-back. New York will travel to Philadelphia on Wednesday, while Indiana will stay in the Big Apple and head to Brooklyn tomorrow night.

The form gap is big right now. The Knicks are 9-1 straight-up and 9-1 against the spread over the last ten games, and they are coming off an impressive 22-point road win in Boston. In that game, New York’s defense held the Celtics to 37.0 percent shooting and 7-of-41 from three-point range.

Indiana is trending the opposite way. The Pacers have dropped four straight games, including an 18-point road loss in Toronto to close the weekend. Indiana is also 1-6 straight-up and 1-6 against the spread over its last seven road games, with the lone win coming in shocking fashion at Oklahoma City on January 23.

From a betting perspective, the under is a big part of this handicap. The under is 10-2 in New York’s last 12 games, and that is a direct reflection of how the Knicks are winning right now. They are defending, rebounding, and making opponents work hard every possession.

Over the last ten games, New York ranks No. 1 in net rating and No. 1 in defensive rating. The Knicks are also No. 3 in rebounding rate and No. 5 in effective field goal shooting in that same span. That is a strong blend because it creates extra possessions while also limiting easy looks for the other team.

The big thing I am watching is the Knicks’ injury report due to the back-to-back. Mitchell Robinson typically does not play back-to-backs and will miss tonight’s game so he can play tomorrow against Joel Embiid. OG Anunoby is questionable with a toe injury. If New York stays close to full strength otherwise, I am comfortable laying this number.

IND and NY Key Injuries and Notes

  • Pacers guard Johnny Furphy suffered a torn ACL on Sunday and will miss the rest of the season.
  • Ivica Zubac is questionable for Indiana and has not played since being acquired from the Clippers.
  • Aaron Nesmith is questionable for Indiana.
  • Micah Potter is questionable for Indiana.
  • T.J. McConnell is questionable for Indiana.
  • Mitchell Robinson typically does not play back-to-backs and will miss tonight for New York.
  • OG Anunoby is questionable for New York with a toe injury.

Final Score Prediction

I expect New York’s defense and rebounding to control this game the same way it has controlled the last two weeks. Indiana has been struggling away from home, and this is a tough spot to reverse that trend against the hottest team in the league at the window.

  • Projected Final Score: Knicks 117, Pacers 104

ATS and Total Picks

  • ATS Pick: Knicks -12
  • Total Pick: Under 224.5
