L.A. Lakers vs. Sacramento Kings prediction

The Los Angeles Lakers head up to Sacramento on Wednesday night for a 10 PM ET game against the Kings at Golden 1 Center. The Lakers have been scoring in bunches lately, while Sacramento finally picked up a win Monday after a pretty ugly stretch. Los Angeles just beat Miami 138-117, and the Kings knocked off Dallas 115-100. At the time of this writing, the betting odds were not released. The Lakers should be favored, but the question is whether Sacramento can make them work for it. Check out our free NBA picks for more predictions.

Los Angeles Lakers Have Been Putting Up Points

The Lakers are 6-2 after beating Miami on Monday, and the offense has been doing some serious damage. They scored 138 against the Heat and 131 against Toronto the night before. That’s 269 points in two games, which is pretty impressive considering they were playing on consecutive nights. Los Angeles has now won three of its last four, with the only loss coming against Golden State.

The thing I like about the Lakers is that they’re not having much trouble finding good shots right now. They’re averaging around 122.5 points per game, and Sacramento has been giving up plenty of points itself. That’s a matchup Los Angeles should be able to exploit. The Kings haven’t shown much ability to slow down good offenses, and the Lakers are playing like one of the better scoring teams in the league.

I do wonder whether the Lakers can keep shooting this well on the road. Sacramento might not be winning many games, but the Kings are at home and coming off a victory. They should have a little more confidence after beating Dallas. Still, Los Angeles has enough offensive firepower that I don’t think it needs another 138-point performance to win this one.

Sacramento Kings Finally Have Something to Build On

Sacramento is 1-6 after beating Dallas 115-100 on Monday. That was a much-needed win, especially after the Kings had lost 136-105 to Memphis, 132-120 to New Orleans, and 130-103 to San Antonio. Giving up 398 points over three games isn’t going to get you very far in the NBA.

The Dallas game was encouraging because Sacramento actually got some stops. Holding the Mavericks to 100 points is a big improvement over what the Kings had been doing. But now they’ve got to prove it wasn’t just one good night. The Lakers are scoring more than 120 points per game, and Sacramento can’t afford to go back to giving up easy baskets.

The Kings also have some injury concerns, particularly around the frontcourt. Keegan Murray, Maxime Raynaud, and Dylan Cardwell were listed out in the early report, while Zach LaVine was dealing with an elbow issue. That’s not ideal against a Lakers team that’s been scoring so easily. Sacramento needs to make this a physical game and keep Los Angeles from getting comfortable. Otherwise, that one-game winning streak might not last very long.

Los Angeles Lakers vs Sacramento Kings Picks and Prediction

Moneyline Pick: Los Angeles Lakers

I’m taking the Lakers. Sacramento finally won a game, and that’s nice, but I’m not ready to forget what happened before that. The Kings were giving up 130 points like it was nothing, and now they’re facing a Los Angeles team that’s scored 131 and 138 in its last two games. That’s a bad combination. The Lakers have been playing better basketball, they’ve got more offensive options, and I don’t trust Sacramento to get enough stops. Give me Los Angeles to keep rolling.

Total Pick: Over — Pending Posted Line

I like the over, depending on the number. The Lakers have scored 269 points in their last two games, and Sacramento allowed at least 130 in three straight losses before beating Dallas. The Kings have also shown they can score when the game opens up, so I don’t think Los Angeles will have to do all the work. The one concern is Sacramento trying to slow things down after finally getting a win with better defense. But I think the Lakers will dictate the pace, and that should lead to plenty of scoring. I’ll lean over until we see where the sportsbooks set the total.

Final Picks: Los Angeles Lakers Moneyline | Over (conditional lean)
