If you are hunting for sharp NBA predictions, this game stands out due to heavy line movement, extreme public betting splits, and two teams that have been cashing Overs at a steady clip.

Nuggets

Denver comes into this game in a strange spot. The Nuggets have been the better team in this matchup for a long time, and the head-to-head numbers back that up. Denver has won eight of the last nine meetings and is 7-2 ATS in that stretch. They also won the last meeting in late-November by 10 points in Memphis, which is not easy to do.

At the same time, I cannot ignore the fact that Denver has dropped four of its last five games. That tells me this team has not been playing consistent basketball lately. The good news is the offense has still been strong in the right spots. Over the last 10 games, Denver is No. 5 in offensive rating thanks to the return of Nikola Jokic and Christian Braun. That is the biggest reason I am leaning toward points in this game.

Denver also has injuries that matter. Peyton Watson and Aaron Gordon are out, and Spencer Jones is questionable as he tries to return from a concussion. That is not a perfect setup for a team laying a huge number, but it does help the case for the Over.

MEM

Memphis is in a tough travel spot. This is the fifth game of a West Coast road trip, and the Grizzlies are coming off a one-point loss at Golden State to start the week. The schedule is not doing them any favors, but the betting results have been solid. Memphis has covered the spread in four of its last five games, which is impressive given the injuries they are dealing with.

The biggest issue for Memphis right now is defense. Over the last 10 games, Memphis is No. 29 in defensive rating. That is a massive red flag when you are facing a team like Denver that has been top-five offensively in that same span. It is also the main reason why the Grizzlies have seen the Over hit in six straight games.

Memphis is also missing several key players. Santi Aldama, Ja Morant, Zach Edey, and Brandon Clarke are all expected to be out. Cedric Coward and Walter Clayton Jr. are listed as doubtful. With that many absences, it is hard to trust Memphis to win. But it is easier to trust them to keep scoring and play in another high-total game.

Grizzlies vs Nuggets Game Preview and Analysis

When I handicap Memphis vs Denver, I start with the most important detail: both teams are trending heavily toward high-scoring games. Memphis has gone Over in six straight, and Denver has gone Over in seven of its last eight. Those are not small samples. That is a pattern.

The matchup also supports it. Memphis has fallen apart defensively, ranking No. 29 in defensive rating over the last 10 games. Denver is No. 5 in offensive rating over that same stretch. That is a mismatch in the exact way that creates clean looks, fast runs, and long scoring stretches.

With the All-Star break coming up, I am not expecting either team to treat this like a playoff game. I also do not expect to see much defense. That lines up perfectly with the way both teams have been playing recently.

The line movement on the total is also important. The total has climbed from 235.5 up to 238.5. That is a three-point move, and the public is showing 100% on the Over. Even with the number rising, I still think the Over is the correct side based on the matchup and the trends.

For the spread, I am always careful laying big points, especially with Denver struggling to build momentum. The Nuggets have lost four of their last five games, and that is not the profile I want when laying double digits. Memphis has also covered in four of its last five games. That is why I see value on the Grizzlies plus the points, even if Denver wins the game.
