It is an understatement that the Grizzlies played better defense in their last game in a 128-103 home win over the Indiana Pacers on Saturday, after giving up 146 points in losing their previous game. In their last game, the Grizzlies shot 45.4% from the floor and 38.5% from 3-point land while holding Indiana to 40.4% shooting and 35% from deep. Cedric Coward led the way with 27 points off the bench, hitting six of his 3-pointers. Ja Morant had 19 points, and Jaren Jackson Jr. had 17 points. Memphis covered as a 2-point favorite, and they are 2-1 ATS on the young season.
Morant (22 ppg) leads four players who are averaging in double figures, but has only totaled 31 points in the last two games, where he shot 35.7% and 25% respectively. Coward (19 ppg) is a rookie who totaled 30 points in his first two games after blowing up for 27 points in the last one. In their last game, the Warriors were on the road in a 139-119 loss to the Portland Trail Blazers for their first loss of the season.
