Miami Heat vs Los Angeles Lakers Picks and Prediction for Monday November 2 2026

By: Kim Smith Published 11/02/2026, 12:25 AM ET

Miami just scored 145 points against Indiana. The Lakers scored 95 against Golden State in their last completed game.

And somehow I’m supposed to ignore that because Los Angeles has the better record?

No thanks. I think Miami can make this a real fight.

The Heat visit Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on Monday, November 2, with tipoff at 10 PM ET. Miami has won two straight, while the Lakers play Toronto on Sunday before this matchup. That’s a rest advantage for the Heat, and I think it matters. I couldn’t confirm a current sportsbook spread or total, so I’m taking Miami on the moneyline and using a target number for the total. Miami Heat Have Started Scoring Again

Miami is 2-4, including 1-1 on the road. The Heat lost four straight before beating Atlanta 129-117 Wednesday and Indiana 145-125 Friday. That’s 274 points in two games. Sure, Indiana hasn’t been defending particularly well, but you still have to make the shots. Miami did.

The Heat average 118.3 points and allow 121.5. That defensive number is the reason they’re sitting two games below .500. Miami has been shooting 47.5 percent from the floor and averaging almost 29 assists, so the ball movement has been pretty good. The problem is stopping the other team. The Lakers have enough scoring talent to take advantage if Miami gives them open looks.

Giannis Antetokounmpo has been averaging more than 28 points and 12 rebounds, and he’s the biggest reason Miami can attack the paint. He had 31 points and 18 rebounds against Indiana. Bam Adebayo added 27 points and nine rebounds in that game, while Klay Thompson scored 25. Davion Mitchell has been averaging better than eight assists, giving the Heat somebody who can get the offense organized. Miami hasn’t listed any major injuries for this matchup, and that’s a pretty important advantage.

Los Angeles Lakers Have to Fix the Turnovers

Los Angeles enters Sunday’s Toronto game at 4-2, including 2-1 at home. The Lakers beat the Clippers 103-87 Wednesday, then lost 112-95 to Golden State Friday. That Warriors game was ugly. Los Angeles led by 25 points and somehow lost by 17. You don’t see that every night.

The Lakers average 118.5 points and allow 113.3. They’re shooting better than 50 percent from the floor and 37.3 percent from three, so the offense has been efficient when it takes care of the basketball. But they’re also averaging nearly 18 turnovers a game. That’s a problem against Miami because the Heat have enough athleticism to turn mistakes into easy points. The Lakers can’t keep handing opponents extra possessions.

Luka Doncic has been averaging more than 36 points and seven assists, and he scored 37 against Golden State. Austin Reaves added 21 in that loss, while Walker Kessler pulled down 13 rebounds and blocked five shots. Those are good individual numbers, but the Lakers need more help from the bench. Adou Thiero is out with a knee problem, and Ziaire Williams has been dealing with a foot issue. Doncic is dangerous enough to win this game, but he can’t do everything by himself.

Miami Heat vs Los Angeles Lakers Picks and Prediction

Miami Heat Moneyline

I’m taking Miami. I know the Lakers have Doncic, and that’s enough to make any opponent nervous. If he gets hot, the Heat could be in trouble. But Miami has been scoring well, it’s healthier, and it gets the Lakers on the second night of a back-to-back. Antetokounmpo and Adebayo can make Los Angeles work inside, and I think the Heat have enough shooting around them to keep the floor open. Give me Miami in a close one.

Over 229.5 Points — Target Total

I’ll look Over 229.5 if that’s the number available. Miami averages 118.3 points, Los Angeles averages 118.5, and the Heat have scored 274 in their last two games. Both teams have enough offensive talent to get into the 115-120 range. The concern is the Lakers being tired after Sunday’s game or Miami suddenly struggling from outside. But I think the Heat will attack the basket, and Doncic will get his points on the other end. Something like Miami 121-117 works for me.

Final Picks: Miami Heat Moneyline and Over 229.5 Points (target total)
