Bucks come out flying
It took 54 seconds for the Bucks to get on the board this season, and from there they went off, scoring 40 first-quarter points to gain an advantage over Washington that they would not relinquish. The team shot 51% from the field in the win and knocked down 18 three-pointers. Former MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo went for a game-high 37 points, shooting 16-36 overall and 4-7 from the line. The forward also added 14 rebounds for a double-double and five assists. Milwaukee was able to empty its bench in the end, and on the night, they got a contribution of 38 points from the reserves.
The defense kept the Wizards to just 23 first-half points as the Bucks established their ground on opening night, but they came out flat in the second half and gave up 37 in the third. They allowed Washington to shoot 46.9% with 17 threes in the game, but they also forced 13 turnovers from them for 17 points. New center Myles Turner had three of the teamโs six blocks and was second on the team with eight rebounds. He also scored 11 points and matched Antetokounmpo with a team-high five assists.

Raptors find their stride
The Raptors played a tight first half on opening night in Atlanta on Wednesday, but after going into the locker room with a six-point lead, they exploded, outscoring the Hawks, 45-28, in the third quarter to pull away. The team shot 73.7% in the third, and overall, the team hit 56.8% of their shots from the field in the win. Toronto hit six threes and 24 free throws. RJ Barrett and Scottie Barnes each hit nine shots to lead the way. Barrett had a team-high 25 points with eight rebounds and five assists. On defense, the Raptors allowed Atlanta to hit 10 threes, but they also limited them to just 42.2% shooting overall. Toronto survived turning the ball over 19 times, thanks to the defense forcing 16 from the Hawks for 22 points. They also crushed Atlanta on the glass, outrebounding them, 54-34. Brandon Ingram swept up nine rebounds down low and was one of three players, along with Barrett, who had a team-high two steals. The Raptors finished the night with 10 steals and four blocks.
Team notes
- The team hit 14 of 19 shots and nine different players scored in their frantic third quarter.
- Immanuel Quickley was 0-7 from three-point range.

Bucks vs. Raptors Picks
Spread Pick for Bucks vs. Raptors
- Raptors -1.5 (4 units)
The Bucks swept the three-game season series last year, both straight up and against the spread. Toronto has slowly been building itself back into a postseason contender, which, if the season opener was any indicator, shows they may be at that point. Milwaukee is still very much a postseason-heavy team and their season-opening win had them looking like a team aiming for the top once again. They are, however, once again heavy on the Giannis. No other player took more than 12 shots or scored more than 17 on Wednesday. They are going to need bigger contributions, and this is where the Raptors can get at them. Toronto can spread the floor more with their option,s and they should also be able to control the glass. Both teams have some solid bench options but in a tight game, the Raptors offer more in that department, especially with Dick. With it being their home opener, I like Toronto to pull this one out.
Take the Raptors to cover.
Over/Under Pick for Bucks vs. Raptors
- Over 230.5 (5 units)
Both teams exploded for over 130 points in regulation season-opening victories on Wednesday. Both also shot over 50% from the field and made it to the line for at least 19 free throws in their respective wins. All of Milwaukeeโs starters scored in double digits and they still maintain one of the best scorers in the game. The Raptors also saw all of their starters score in double digits and they had three players score at least 21 points in their win. The over is 5-2 in the last seven games between the two teams.
Take the over.
