Timberwolves Coming Off a Blowout
Minnesota took care of business in its last game, a 137-97 home win over the Utah Jazz. Anthony Edwards scored 37 points and Julius Randle added 19 points, 10 rebounds, and 12 assists. Edwards played his second game back after missing four games with a strained hamstring.
- Initially questionable for Friday’s game, Edwards looked far sharper than he did in his return from a hamstring injury on Wednesday. Of course, the Jazz aren’t on the same level as the Knicks.
- Jaden McDaniels had 22 points and seven rebounds as the Timberwolves held a 79-45 advantage at the end of the first half. After recording one triple-double in the previous three seasons combined, Randle has two in Minnesota’s first nine games of the 2025-26 season.
- He was responsible for seven turnovers on Friday, but this was the first game in which the Timberwolves’ forward had surpassed five. High-turnover nights of this caliber are unlikely to become the norm for Randle. Friday’s performance was an indicator of what he will be able to do with Anthony Edwards (37 points) back in the lineup and fully healthy. They are 5-4 heading into this game against the Kings.

Kings Get Creamed at Home
Playing without their best player Domantas Sabonis, the Kings were outmatched in a 132-101 home loss against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Russell Westbrook, who spent his first nine NBA seasons with the Thunder and is the franchise’s leading scorer, had 24 points and nine assists against his former team.
- Sabonis sat out his second consecutive game with sore ribs. Westbrook logged his third-straight 20-point game of the season on Friday, which was again highlighted by strong overall shooting efficiency and high production from beyond the arc.
- The veteran guard was everywhere on the glass and provided the most energy out of everyone on the team. Even in Year 18, Westbrook has proven capable of stuffing the stat sheet and providing value for a Kings team that looks to be in a big rebuild.
- DeRozan was limited to 29 minutes on Friday in the blowout loss to OKC. In his minutes, he shot efficiently and logged more three-point makes against the Thunder than he had combined before Friday’s contest. Still, the veteran scorer finished with fewer than 20 points and had minimal impact as a facilitator or defender.
Timberwolves vs. Kings Game Pick
Spread Pick for T-Wolves vs. Kings
- Minnesota Timberwolves ATS (5 units)
At this juncture of the season, the Sacramento Kings are nearly impossible to trust. Sabonis has been on the shelf for the last two games with sore ribs, and they got dominated in the paint last game. They were outscored 60-34 in the paint against the Oklahoma City Thunder. They are 26th in paint points allowed per game, and this is a difficult matchup against Julius Randle and Rudy Gobert down low. Randle has been on a rampage to open the year. Sacramento has failed to beat the number in five of six at home. Take the Timberwolves to win and cover.
OVER/UNDER PICK for Timberwolves vs. Kings
- UNDER (4 Units)
Minnesota enters this contest against the Kings near the bottom of the NBA in pace of play. But, they have not been sharp defensively to open the season. They are 22nd in defensive rating, but they have an elite defender back in Anthony Edwards, and they were excellent on the defensive end last season. They gave up a few high-scoring totals early in the year, but they are playing well enough to shut down a Kings team that will likely be without their best player. Take the under.
