NBA Picks for October 27, 2026
Tuesday's NBA schedule has four games, and there are a couple of favorites I'd be careful about laying points with. Boston gets Brooklyn at home, Detroit visits a New York team trying to get its offense going, Sacramento heads to San Antonio, and Portland finishes the night against the Lakers.
It's early in the season, so I'm not going to pretend three or four games tell us everything about these teams. But we've already seen some interesting defensive performances, a few ugly losses, and some scheduling spots worth considering. Here are my picks for all four games. Today's NBA Picks for October 27, 2026
Brooklyn Nets vs. Boston Celtics Best Bet
Brooklyn has had a rough opening week. The Nets lost 110-103 to Charlotte, fell 125-121 at Cleveland, and then got blown out 136-109 by Indiana on Sunday. That's 136 points allowed in their most recent game, and the defense hasn't given them much to build on. Now they have to visit Boston, which isn't exactly the place you want to go when you're struggling to get stops.
Boston hasn't been perfect either. The Celtics beat New York 107-103 before putting together a much better offensive performance in Monday's 134-99 victory over Chicago. That 35-point win showed what Boston can do when its offense gets going, and the Celtics should have opportunities against a Brooklyn team that has struggled to defend consistently.
Best Bet: Boston Celtics -9.5 or Better
I'll lay up to 9.5 with Boston. Brooklyn is playing on consecutive nights after allowing 136 points to Indiana, while the Celtics have the stronger home situation and just demonstrated they can put away an overmatched opponent. The concern is that Boston might take its foot off the gas with a comfortable lead, but the Nets haven't shown enough defensive consistency to make me trust them against the spread.
NBA Best Bet: Boston Celtics -9.5 or Better
Detroit Pistons vs. New York Knicks Best Bet
Detroit has won two straight road games, beating Miami 128-111 and Philadelphia 106-93. Those wins were impressive for different reasons. The Pistons scored freely against Miami, then held Philadelphia under 100 points. That's the kind of versatility you want to see from a team trying to establish itself early in the season.
New York has lost two consecutive games, falling 107-103 at Boston and 111-102 at home against Orlando. The Knicks haven't been getting enough easy baskets, and their offense has struggled to find consistency. Madison Square Garden gives New York an advantage, but the Pistons have already shown they can win away from home.
Best Bet: Detroit Pistons +5.5 or Better
Give me Detroit with the points. The Pistons have been defending well, and New York hasn't shown enough offensive consistency to justify laying multiple possessions against a team that's playing this confidently. The Knicks could certainly turn things around at home, but Detroit doesn't need to win outright to cover. At 5.5 points or more, I'll take the visitors.
NBA Best Bet: Detroit Pistons +5.5 or Better
Sacramento Kings vs. San Antonio Spurs Best Bet
Sacramento has had a difficult opening stretch. The Kings lost 121-96 to the Clippers, 128-120 to Portland, and 123-112 to Memphis. They've allowed at least 120 points in all three games, and their defense has struggled to prevent opponents from getting comfortable offensively.
San Antonio opened with a 110-114 loss to Houston before going into Dallas and winning 122-106. The Spurs showed much better offensive balance against the Mavericks and should have opportunities against a Sacramento team that's been giving up points in bunches.
Best Bet: San Antonio Spurs -6.5 or Better
I'm backing San Antonio at home, provided the spread is 6.5 or less. Sacramento's defensive problems have been obvious, and the Spurs have enough offensive ability to exploit them. The Kings could make this competitive if their shooting improves, but they've allowed too many easy baskets through the opening week. San Antonio is the more dependable side.
NBA Best Bet: San Antonio Spurs -6.5 or Better
Portland Trail Blazers vs. Los Angeles Lakers Best Bet
Portland has been one of the more interesting teams during the opening week. The Trail Blazers crushed Phoenix 124-83, then went into Sacramento and won 128-120. They've shown they can score, and their defensive performance against the Suns was especially impressive.
The Lakers have started well, beating Golden State 127-105, the Clippers 125-117, and Utah 132-123. Los Angeles has been producing plenty of offense, but allowing 123 points against the Jazz shows the Lakers can still be vulnerable defensively.
Best Bet: Portland Trail Blazers +7.5 or Better
I like Portland with the points. The Lakers deserve to be favored at home, but the Trail Blazers have demonstrated enough offensive ability to keep this competitive. Los Angeles has been scoring freely, and that could create problems if Portland goes cold, but the Lakers have also given opponents opportunities. I'll take the underdog at 7.5 or better.
NBA Best Bet: Portland Trail Blazers +7.5 or Better
NBA Best Bet of the Day
Detroit Pistons +5.5 or better against the New York Knicks is my NBA Best Bet of the Day. Detroit has won two consecutive road games and has demonstrated it can win through offense or defense. New York has lost two straight, and its offense hasn't been dependable enough to make laying points attractive.
The Knicks could respond at home, but Detroit is playing with confidence and has enough defensive ability to keep the game close. I'll take the Pistons with the points.
Final Pick: Detroit Pistons +5.5 or Better
