Towns day-to-day for 2-1 Knicks
The New York Knicks are 2-1 three games into the 2025 NBA season, after home wins against the Cavaliers (119-111) and Celtics (105-95), followed by a road loss to the Heat (115-107). They've averaged 110.3 points, 22.7 assists, and 51.0 rebounds per game as a team.
Jalen Brunson leads the team in scoring with 30.3 points per game, ranking ninth in the NBA. He's shooting 45.3% from the field and 33.3% from behind the arc while ranking fifth in field goal attempts per game (21.3). The team's loss to Miami saw Brunson post season-high marks in points (37), field goal percentage (53.8%), and three-point percentage (45.5%); conversely, the team won their season opener against Cleveland despite Brunson being largely ineffective while attempting to score from the field. OG Anunoby led the team in the 119-111 win over the Cavaliers with 24 points while shooting 9-17 (52.9%) from the field and 4-9 (44.4%) from behind the arc; Brunson scored 12 of his 23 points that game at the free throw line, shooting only 5-18 (27.7%) from the field and 1-9 (11.1%) on three-point attempts.
Karl-Anthony Towns (quadriceps) is listed as questionable on the injury report ahead of Tuesday's game against the Bucks. He's second on the team for the season with 20.0 points per game, and he trails only Giannis Antetokounmpo (16.0) with 14.0 rebounds per game. Towns is coming off a 15-point, 18-rebound night against the Heat–it isn't immediately obvious how the Knicks will fill Towns' minutes or replicate his production if he doesn't suit up on Tuesday.

Bucks 2-1, offense running through Antetokounmpo
The Milwaukee Bucks are 2-1 to open the 2025 NBA season, and superstar forward Giannis Antetokounmpo has already vaulted up the leaderboard in every key statistic. He's averaging 36.0 points per game – leading Cole Anthony by 20.0 points for the highest average on the Bucks, and trailing Shai Gilgeous-Alexander by only 4.0 points for the highest average in the NBA. He leads the NBA with 16.0 rebounds per game, two per game ahead of Karl-Anthony Towns with the next-highest average as things stand.
Antetokounmpo did everything in the team's 118-113 loss to the Heat–he scored 40 points while shooting 70.0% from the field and making his lone three-point attempt, racked up 14 rebounds, and nearly completed the triple-double with nine assists–not to mention his two blocks and two steals. The other four starters–Myles Turner, Gary Trent Jr., A.J. Green, and Ryan Rollins–combined to shoot 18-41 (43.9%) from the field and 8-25 (32.0%) from behind the arc.
Cole Anthony ranks second on the team with 16.0 points per game despite averaging fewer than 20 minutes per game. He's currently on the injury report with an illness and is listed as questionable for Tuesday's game against the Knicks after missing the loss in Cleveland. Joining him are Kyle Kuzma (ankle) and Kevin Porter Jr. (ankle), who are tied for sixth on the team with 10.0 points per game. Kuzma, like Anthony, is questionable for Tuesday's game; Porter Jr. has been ruled out.
Knicks vs. Bucks Pick
Spread Pick for Knicks vs. Bucks
- Bucks +1.5 (-115) (4 Units)
The Bucks are returning home for this game and will have one of the league's biggest stars fully healthy and performing at a higher level than nearly everyone else on the court. Towns' availability is a significant variable here–the spread is already only 1.5 points, and Towns averages more points than everyone on the low-scoring Knicks aside from Brunson. The Bucks are 3-0 against the spread and facing a Knicks team that's fourth from the bottom of the NBA in points allowed per game (110.3). Keeping things close shouldn't be terribly hard, especially if Brunson has another rough night from the field.
Over/Under Pick for Knicks vs. Bucks
- Under 229.5 (-110) (4 Units)
The Team Total Under is 2-0 in the Knicks' last two games, falling short of the 231.0 line against Cleveland and the 230.5 line against Miami. The Knicks, despite the coaching change, are still one of the slowest-paced teams in the league at 21st. The team's 119-111 win over the Cavaliers generated exactly one more point than necessary to cover the 229.0 total line. The Knicks are a lower-scoring, slower-paced team, and they're hosting a Bucks team that's still looking for ways to generate points beyond Antetokounmpo. I'd bet against a scoring frenzy here.
