Oklahoma City Thunder vs Los Angeles Lakers Picks, Prediction, Odds, and Line Movement for Monday February 9 2026
Thunder vs Lakers picks are tricky on Monday because the market is dealing with two good teams that are both missing major pieces. I still see value here, especially with the way Los Angeles has been playing at the window lately. If you are hunting for sharp angles, this is one of the better games to break down on the board for NBA predictions.
TLDR - Picks and Prediction

Thunder vs Lakers Game Preview and Analysis
Oklahoma City earned a 121-92 home win over the Lakers in their last meeting in mid-November. That game was never close, and it was one of the cleaner wins Oklahoma City has had in this matchup.
Even with that result, I am not treating this game as a simple rematch. Both teams look different right now, and the injury situations on both sides matter a lot when you handicap the spread.
Los Angeles has been playing excellent basketball over the last two weeks. The Lakers are 6-2 straight-up and 6-2 against the spread over the last eight games, which is a strong run for a team that has had plenty of ups and downs this season.
The Lakers got past Golden State over the weekend without Luka Doncic, who was nursing a hamstring injury. LeBron James led the way with 20 points and ten assists, but he also committed seven turnovers.
Doncic will not play in this one either, which obviously hurts. But Oklahoma City is dealing with a very similar situation on its side of the injury report.
The Thunder have gotten a little healthier over the last week, but Ajay Mitchell and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander are still out of the lineup. Not having Gilgeous-Alexander changes everything for Oklahoma City, especially late in games when you need a reliable shot creator.
Oklahoma City also comes in on a cold stretch, having lost back-to-back games against the Spurs and Rockets. The Thunder have not looked like the same team since the trip to Vegas for the NBA Cup in mid-December.
Since losing to San Antonio in that contest, Oklahoma City has gone 11-16-1 against the spread. That is a long stretch of underperforming the market, and it is not something I want to ignore when the Thunder are laying this many points.
From a totals perspective, the trends point under. Five of the last six meetings have stayed under the total, and the under is 8-3 in the Lakers’ last 11 games.
What I like most about this matchup is the number. I am not saying Los Angeles is guaranteed to win outright, but I do think the Lakers have been the more consistent team lately. Over the last 15 games, Los Angeles has a better offensive rating than Oklahoma City.
Even without Doncic, I do not want to lay points with Oklahoma City when the Thunder are missing Gilgeous-Alexander. The same argument applies in reverse. If you downgrade the Lakers for missing Doncic, you also have to downgrade the Thunder for missing their best player.
The Lakers are also on the first leg of a back-to-back and will host the Spurs on Tuesday night. That is something to keep in mind, but Los Angeles has still been sharp at the betting window, and the current form matters.
OKC and LAL Key Injuries and Notes
- Ajay Mitchell remains out for Oklahoma City.
- Shai Gilgeous-Alexander remains out for Oklahoma City.
- Luka Doncic did not play Saturday against Golden State and will not play in this one.
- Doncic is dealing with a hamstring injury.
- Los Angeles is on the first leg of a back-to-back and will host the Spurs on Tuesday.
Final Score Prediction
This is a matchup where I expect Oklahoma City to play well at home, but I also expect Los Angeles to keep it tight. The Lakers have been the better team over the last few weeks, and Oklahoma City has not been covering numbers consistently since mid-December.
With both teams missing key creators, I also lean under. The head-to-head history supports it, and Los Angeles has been an under team recently as well.
- Projected Final Score: Thunder 110, Lakers 107
ATS and Total Picks
