76ers vs Bulls Prediction

The Chicago Bulls will host the Philadelphia 76ers at United Center as the Bulls look to rebound after being dealt their first loss of the season. Tipoff is slated for 8:00 PM Eastern. Read on for the Bulls vs the 76ers prediction and more free NBA picks.

Philly Bounces Back From First Loss

Philadelphia fell by one to Boston in their first loss of the season, but they rebounded nicely against the lowly Nets on Sunday. Philadelphia controlled the contest from the start of the 2nd quarter and led by as many as 28. The 76ers shot over 52% from the floor as three starters finished in double figures. Kelly Oubre led the way with 29 points, and Tyrese Maxey added 26 points, six boards, and seven assists. Philadelphia won the battle in the paint and forced Brooklyn into 19 turnovers.

The Philadelphia 76ers enter this contest averaging 125.7 points per game, which lands them 2nd in the league. Offensively, they are shooting just under 48% from the floor, which has them right inside the top half of the league. They haven't been as effective in the painted area, but the 76ers have been able to share the basketball well, which has helped propel them to a top 10 effective field goal percentage. With the 76ers taking great care of the basketball and with their top 10 offensive rebounding rate, we should expect them to find ways to put points on the board here.

Key Stats:

  • Tyrese Maxey: 33.7 Points Per Game
  • Andre Drummond: 6.7 Rebounds Per Game
  • Free Throw Percentage: 79.7%

On the defensive end, the Sixers allow 118.2 points per game, ranking them 19th in the league. Foes are hit about 47.1% from the field when facing Philadelphia, and the team allows over 21 fast-break points per game, which is one of the most transition points allowed per game in the league. Opponents have found success on the offensive glass as they are bringing down over 13 offensive boards per game. Philadelphia averages 6.8 steals per game, putting them in the bottom five in the league in turnover generation. The interior defense has been pretty middling, but around the perimeter, Philly sits top 10 in 3-pointers allowed, and they are hovering around the top 10 in opponent free throw attempts per game.

Key Injuries: Joel Embiid (GTD), Paul George (GTD), Jared McCain (OUT), Dominick Barlow (GTD)

Bulls Suffer First Loss

Chicago split their back-to-back with the Knicks, dropping game two on Sunday in a 128-116 final. The Bulls played from behind for basically the entire contest. All five starters finished in double figures, with Josh Giddey leading the way with a 23-point, 11-rebound, 12-assist triple-double. Nikola Vucevic added 17 points and 14 boards. Chicago shot just over 48% from the floor, but they finished -11 in free-throw attempts and turned the ball over 14 times.

The Chicago Bulls enter this contest averaging 121.8 points per game, ranking 7th in the league. Offensively, they shoot roughly 40.7% from three-point range, which has them slotted at 2nd in the NBA. They grab about 10.4 offensive rebounds per game, which has them in the bottom half of the league. On the plus side, the Bulls have been strong inside the paint, as they put up nearly 60 paint points per contest. While the Bulls haven't gotten to the line all that often, they have taken great care of the basketball and are leading the league in assists per game.

Key Stats:

  • Josh Giddey: 22.2 Points Per Game
  • Nikola Vucevic: 12.3 Rebounds Per Game
  • Free Throw Percentage: 78.8%

On the defensive end, Chicago allows 116.4 points per game, ranking 12th in the league. Chicago has climbed into the top 10 in terms of opponent effective field goal percentage, and they have dropped to the bottom 10 in opponent paint points and fast break points. On top of that, the Chicago sits in the top 10 in opponent offensive rebound rate. The Bulls may not be pesky with their hands and for steals at a high rate, but they have done well to defend without fouling and are sitting top five in both opponent 3-point attempts and makes per game.

Key Injuries: Ayo Dosunmu (GTD), Coby White (GTD), Zach Collins (OUT)

76ers vs Bulls Pick

Spread Pick for 76ers vs Bulls

  • Chicago -3.5 (4 Units)

The Bulls continue to operate at a very efficient level. They have climbed into the top five in effective field goal percentage, and they are putting up nearly half of their points in the painted area this season. Philadelphia has struggled to keep opponents off the offensive glass, and they have struggled to defend the paint. With Chicago defending the 3-ball well and dominating the paint, look for them to win by a wide margin here.

Chicago -3.5

Total for 76ers vs Bulls

  • Under 233.5 (4 Units)

This game is a clash in styles as the 76ers sit in the top 10 in pace of play and the Bulls sit in the bottom 10. That said, Chicago should control the tempo here, being at home and taking great care of the ball. Expect both teams to put the ball on the ground and for possessions to get drawn out. Both defenses have done well to keep opponents off the offensive glass, and neither offense has gotten to the line often. Look for the defense of each squad to set the tone here and keep this total under the number.
