Portland Trail Blazers vs Phoenix Suns Picks and Prediction for Wednesday November 4 2026

By: Kim Smith Published 11/04/2026, 12:35 AM ET

Portland heads to Phoenix on Wednesday night for a 9 PM ET game against the Suns at Mortgage Matchup Center. The Trail Blazers have been one of the more pleasant surprises in the Western Conference, while Phoenix is having a rough time getting wins. Portland is coming off a 118-110 victory in Denver on Monday, and the Suns lost 116-113 to Golden State that same night. At the time of this writing, the betting odds were not released. Portland Trail Blazers Are Making Some Noise

Portland is 5-1, and I’ll admit, the Trail Blazers have been better than I expected. Going into Denver and winning 118-110 is impressive enough, but they also beat Utah 112-90 on Saturday. That’s two road wins in a row, and the one against Denver really caught my attention. The Nuggets aren’t an easy team to beat in their own building.

What I like about Portland is that the Trail Blazers have been finding different ways to win. They held Utah to 90 points, then turned around and scored 118 against Denver. That’s encouraging because you’re not going to get the same kind of game every night. Sometimes you need to defend, and sometimes you need to put up points. Portland has shown it can do both.

Now, I wouldn’t get too carried away with a 5-1 start. It’s still early, and the Trail Blazers have plenty to prove. They also lost 124-103 to Memphis not long ago, so they’re certainly not unbeatable. But when you compare what Portland has been doing lately with what Phoenix has been doing, I have a hard time finding a good reason to go against the Blazers.

Phoenix Suns Need to Start Finishing Games

Phoenix is 1-4 after losing 116-113 to Golden State on Monday. That came after a 127-120 loss to Denver on Friday. The Suns have been competitive at times, but being competitive doesn’t mean much when you keep walking off the court with another loss.

The defense is what concerns me. Phoenix gave up 127 to Denver and 116 to Golden State. That’s 243 points in two games, and now the Suns are facing a Portland team that just scored 118 in Denver. Not exactly an ideal situation. Phoenix needs to do a better job keeping opponents out of the paint and making them work for their shots.

Here’s the thing, though. Phoenix isn’t getting blown out every night. The Suns lost by three to Golden State, and they were within seven of Denver. That’s close enough to make me a little nervous about backing Portland on the road. If Phoenix gets a good shooting night and finally makes a few defensive stops late, it could win this game. But we’ve been waiting for that to happen, and I’m not interested in betting on it until the Suns show they can actually finish one.

Portland Trail Blazers vs Phoenix Suns Picks and Prediction

Moneyline Pick: Portland Trail Blazers

I’m taking Portland. Look, Phoenix has enough talent to make this interesting, and I wouldn’t be surprised if the Suns finally put together a good game. But why would I bet against a Portland team that’s 5-1 and just won in Denver? The Trail Blazers have been defending well enough to win lower-scoring games, and they’ve got enough offense to keep up when things open up. Phoenix keeps finding ways to lose close games, and that bothers me. I’ll take the team that’s actually been winning. Give me Portland.

Total Pick: Over — Pending Posted Line

I’m leaning over here, depending on the number. Portland just scored 118 against Denver, and Phoenix has allowed 243 points over its last two games. The Suns have also been scoring enough to stay competitive, even if they haven’t been winning. I can see both teams getting into the 110s, especially if Phoenix keeps having trouble defensively. The one thing that gives me pause is Portland holding Utah to 90 on Saturday. The Trail Blazers can play defense when they need to. But I think Phoenix will push the scoring enough to make the over worth considering at a reasonable number.

Final Picks: Portland Trail Blazers Moneyline | Over (conditional lean)
