Kings

Sacramento just snapped a 16-game losing streak with a road win in Memphis. Seven players scored in double figures in that game, led by Russell Westbrook’s 25 points. That balanced scoring is a positive sign.

The Kings have won five of the last six meetings against Houston. They have already shown they can compete in this matchup, including two outright upsets as a double-digit underdog this season.

Injuries are a major factor. De'Andre Hunter, Dylan Cardwell, Domantas Sabonis and Zach LaVine are all out long term. Devin Carter is questionable with a back issue. Depth is thin, but the recent win could give them some confidence.

Rockets

Houston is coming off a 20-point home win over Utah. The Rockets are healthier in this spot, though Amen Thompson and Jae'Sean Tate are both out.

The bigger issue is offense. Over the last 15 games, Houston ranks No. 22 in offensive rating, No. 22 in assist rate, No. 26 in turnover rate, No. 27 in effective field goal percentage and No. 25 in true shooting percentage. They also play at the third-slowest pace in the league.

That profile makes it tough to lay big numbers. Slow pace plus inefficient offense does not usually lead to easy covers.

Kings vs Rockets Game Preview and Analysis

Both teams are on equal rest and on the front end of a back-to-back. Houston will travel to Orlando next, while Sacramento heads to Dallas.

Our power ratings line up closely with where this game opened. The market pushed Houston up to -15 before settling back to -14. That tells me there was early favorite money, but resistance showed up at the higher number.

Sacramento has already proven it can hang with Houston. The Rockets’ offense has not been sharp enough to justify this type of spread. Given the slow pace and recent offensive metrics, I see value taking the points with the Kings.

The total has dropped from 223.5 to 221.5. With Houston playing slow and ranking near the bottom in shooting efficiency, I lean under as well.

Key Injuries and Notes - SAC and HOU

  • SAC: Hunter, Cardwell, Sabonis and LaVine are out long term.
  • SAC: Devin Carter is questionable with a back issue.
  • HOU: Amen Thompson and Jae'Sean Tate are out.
  • Houston ranks near the bottom in several offensive categories over the last 15 games.
  • Sacramento has won five of the last six meetings.

Final Score Prediction

I expect Houston to control the game, but the pace and offensive struggles keep this within the number.

  • Projected Final Score: Houston 111, Sacramento 101

ATS and Total Picks
