Washington Wizards vs Atlanta Hawks Picks and Prediction for Friday November 6 2026

By: Kim Smith Published 11/06/2026, 12:15 AM ET

Washington heads to Atlanta on Friday night for a 7 PM ET matchup against the Hawks at State Farm Arena. These teams just played Wednesday, and Atlanta won 120-105 in Washington. Now they turn around and do it again, only this time the Hawks get the home floor. I don’t usually love backing a team in the second game of a quick rematch, but Washington didn’t show me much Wednesday that makes me think things will suddenly be different. Get into the action with our free NBA picks.

Washington Wizards Need to Find Some Answers

Washington is 4-4 after losing to Atlanta by 15 points Wednesday. The Wizards had beaten Orlando 103-94 on Monday, so they were starting to put together some decent results. Then Atlanta came in and scored 120. That’s a pretty quick reminder that Washington still has plenty of work to do.

The Wizards are averaging 108.9 points per game while allowing 109. That’s almost an even split. Washington has been playing some competitive basketball, but it hasn’t been scoring enough to overcome bad defensive stretches. Against Atlanta, the Wizards need to do a much better job keeping the Hawks from getting easy baskets.

Anthony Davis has been Washington’s most productive scorer, averaging around 23 points and nine rebounds, while Trae Young has been running the offense with about 10 assists per game. That’s enough talent to make Washington dangerous. But the Wizards are dealing with several unavailable reserves, and they need more consistent contributions throughout the lineup.

Atlanta Hawks Have Been Playing Better Basketball

Atlanta is 5-4 after beating Washington on Wednesday. The Hawks also beat Indiana 108-104 on Monday, so they’ve put together consecutive victories. That’s a nice turnaround after losing 121-99 to New Orleans on Saturday. Atlanta has been inconsistent, but the last two games have been encouraging.

The Hawks are averaging 115.8 points while allowing 113. That’s not a huge difference, but it’s enough when the offense is moving the ball well. Atlanta likes to play at a quicker pace, and Washington had trouble handling that Wednesday. The Hawks should have opportunities to attack the same defensive weaknesses Friday.

Nickeil Alexander-Walker has been averaging around 21 points per game, and his 26-point performance against Washington was a big part of Wednesday’s victory. Jalen Johnson has been contributing about nine rebounds and eight assists per game, although his ankle injury is something to monitor. Atlanta has some frontcourt injuries, but the Hawks have enough offensive options to cause Washington problems.

Washington Wizards vs Atlanta Hawks Picks and Prediction

Moneyline Pick: Atlanta Hawks

I’m taking Atlanta again. Look, beating the same team twice in three days isn’t always easy. Washington has already seen what the Hawks want to do, and I’d expect the Wizards to make some adjustments. But Atlanta just scored 120 in Washington, and now it gets to play at home. The Hawks have been moving the ball better, and I trust their offense more than Washington’s. Unless the injury situation changes significantly, I’m sticking with Atlanta.

Total Pick: Under 229.5 Points

I’ll take the under 229.5 if that’s the posted number. Wednesday’s game finished with 225 combined points, and Washington has been averaging fewer than 109 per night. Atlanta can push the pace, so there’s some danger here. But I think the Wizards will try to slow things down after giving up 120 in the first meeting. Washington doesn’t want another game where Atlanta gets comfortable offensively. I can see the Hawks winning something like 116-108, and that keeps us under.

Final Picks: Atlanta Hawks Moneyline | Under 229.5 Points (if available)
