Key Matchups for Wizards vs. Rockets
Wiz take another tough loss
Washington is coming off their second straight fourth-quarter collapse as it fell at Detroit on Monday night, 137-135 in overtime. The Wizards blew a late 13-point lead as Daniss Jenkings hit a tough three-pointer with 1.9 seconds left to tie the game and send it to overtime. Veteran guard C.J. McCollum scored 42 points to lead the Wizards, who shot 53% from the field. Forward Cam Whitmore added 20 points off the bench for Washington, who fell to 1-9. Washington also had a seven-point lead in the fourth quarter against Dallas at home with 9:16 left in the game and did not score for nearly four minutes.
The good news for Washington is that last year's number two overall pick, Alex Sarr, is breaking out in his second season with 18.5 points, 8.4 rebounds and 2.5 blocks per game. McCollum adds 16.8 points, but is shooting just 40.1% from the field (37.25 3pt). Second-year player Kyshawn George has also made strides, averaging 15.8 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 4.1 assists, shooting 51.3% from the field and 45.3% from long range.
Houston is soaring
The Rockets are coming off an impressive 122-115 home win at Milwaukee on Sunday. That's despite allowing 37 points to Giannis Antetokounmpo and 56% shooting from the field by the Bucks. Veteran Kevin Durant led the way with 31 points for Houston while center Alperen Sengun added 25 points, 11 rebounds, and seven assists, but also turned the ball over time times.
The addition of the 37-year-old Durant has given the Rockets a big boost as he's played all nine games, averaging 24.8 points, 4.6 rebounds and 3.1 assists on 49.7% shooting and 41.7% from long range. His playmaking ability, along with Sengun, has helped fill the hole for the loss of veteran PG Fred VanVleet, who is out for the season with an ACL injury. Sengun has been one of the top big men in the league this season, averaging 22.8 points, 9.9 rebounds and 7.3 assists, while shooting 49% from the field and 39.3% from long range.

Washington Wizards vs. Houston Rockets ATS and Over/Under Betting Picks
Check out the pick on this game in the Wizards/Rockets game, along with the total. These are teams that like to get up and down the floor. Houston plays solid on both ends, but this is a feisty Wizards team that has been very competitive in their last two game as Saar and McColum are working well together. Defense is another story for Washington, who ranks 29th in Adjusted Defensive Rating according to DunksandThrees.com

- Washington +16.5 (4 units)

Wizards vs. Rockets Final Score Prediction
- Houston 124-Washington 120
The Wizards are a young team with a lot of talent led by Saar, George and Whitmore. The 21-year-old Whitmore played for Houston for two seasons coming out of Villanova and will be looking for revenge against the team that drafted him 21st in the first round in 2023 and gave up on him. Sarr is becoming a matchup nightmare because he's so long at 7-1 and is stronger so he's scoring in the paint more and can also shoot the three. The Rockets have a tougher schedule coming up with Portland, Orlando, Cleveland and Denver on the horizon. They'll come out flat in this one.
