49ers vs. Browns predictions

We are hitting the stretch run in the NFL, so buckle in, grab our 49ers vs. Browns predictions and settle in for a big Sunday. San Francisco (8-4 SU, 7-5 ATS) picked up a 20-9 win over Carolina as -7.5 favorites at home last weekend. Cleveland (3-8 SU, 5-6 ATS) went to Las Vegas and won 24-10 over the Raiders as +3.5 underdogs last weekend. Kickoff from Huntington Bank Field is scheduled for 1:00 EST and if you want more NFL winners, check out our award-winning NFL Predictions.

49ers go back-to-back

It was nearly two months since the 49ers were able to string together wins, yet they’ve stayed right in the NFC hunt the whole way. Now, winners of two straight games for the first time since September, they are in seventh place in the conference playoff race with five games to play.

Brock Purdy threw for 193 yards and was intercepted three times against Carolina in just his second game back from injury. The QB has 8 TDs and 7 interceptions in four games. The Niners' passing game still averages 249.4 yards per game, third best in the NFL. Christian McCaffrey is second in the league with 81 catches, 10th with 785 receiving yards and tied for 16th with 5 receiving TDs. George Kittle, who has 40 catches for 329 yards, has also found the end zone five times. San Francisco’s run game ranks 26th, gaining 99.2 yards per game, but McCaffrey is 10th in the league with 796 rushing yards. The Niners’ running back has three rushing TDs in his last three games.

San Francisco’s defense had their best effort of the season against the Panthers last weekend, giving up a season-low 9 points. The team ranks 11th in the NFL, allowing 21.8 points per game. In the yardage department, the 49ers rank 22nd, allowing 342.7 total yards per game. Against the pass, they are giving up 241.8 yards and versus the run, 100.9 yards per game. Their 13 sacks are the fewest in the league, and their 5 interceptions are tied for the third lowest. Dee Winters leads the team with 78 tackles and is tied for Bryce Huff with 6 tackles for loss. Huff also had a team-high 4 sacks.

Browns enjoy rare victory

The Browns were caught in the NFL hype machine last weekend and came out clean, capturing their first win in a month. It was the first road win of the season for the group, though four of their last six games will come at home, including this matchup.

Shedeur Sanders was the reason for the hype, and he backed things up by becoming the first Brown QB to win his first career start since 1995. Going 11-20 for 209 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT was good enough to earn him the start this week. The Browns' passing offense is second-to-last in the league, averaging 163.6 yards per game. Their rushing attack ranks 28th overall, gaining 94.9 yards per game, on average. Quinshon Judkins ran for 2 TDs in last weekend’s victory, breaking a three-game scoreless drought and giving up 7 TDs on the year. Judkins leads the team and ranks 18th in the league with 667 rushing yards. Harold Fanin Jr. caught a team-high 4 passes against the Raiders, giving up 48 catches on the year, eighth most among tight ends.

The 10 points allowed by Cleveland’s defense in Las Vegas matched a season-best effort. They are giving up an average of 22.2 points per game, 13th in the NFL, and the 273 total yards allowed each week ranks second-best in the league. The Browns are giving up 170.7 yards via the pass and 102.3 via the rush. They are second in the league with 42 sacks, complemented by 9 interceptions. Myles Garrett picked up 3 more sacks last weekend, giving him a career-high 18 sacks, most in the league by five. Carson Schwesinger leads the team and is 11th in the NFL with 96 tackles.

  • DE Alex Wright (quad) is out.
  • DE Adin Huntington (quad) is out.

Spread Pick for 49ers vs. Browns

  • San Francisco -4.5 (5 units)

These two last met in 2023, a game the Browns won by two points as +8.5 underdogs at home. We are in a similar situation here, the hosts against he dogs, despite their thrilling victory last weekend. Of course, the Niners are pretty much everything that the Raiders are not, so Cleveland is going to have their hands very full in this matchup. The Browns’ defense is their best chance to gain any advantage, but Garrett is going to have a hard time against one of the better offensive lines in the league. The Niners have allowed just 19 sacks on the year, so less pressure means Purdy makes less mistakes. This is a game where they’ll need McCaffrey to take over and he shouldn’t have a problem doing so.

Take the 49ers giving the points.

Over/Under Pick for 49ers vs. Browns

  • Under 36.5 (5 units)

This matchup features a pair of inconsistent offenses, while both defenses are also Top 12 in fewest points allowed in the NFL. Rain is in the Cleveland forecast for the day and temps aren’t expected to clear the 30s, so this is lining up to be a sloppy game. I would expect both sides to try and move things with their run game, considering the prowess for both QBs at this stage. The last meeting between these two produced a combined 36 points and the under is 4-0-1 in the last five games between the clubs.

Take the under.
